Default Exergen D501

Hello all,

I picked up an Exergen D501 as part of a package deal and am trying to figure out whether or not to keep it.

Before I got the exergen, I was using a raytek.

How does the D501 compare to the latest Exergen?
If I was to try and sell it, how much should I expect to be able to get?

Thanks.

IMO exergen is the best period
It reads what you point at NOT the air in between

D501 too?

I read somewhere that the DX501 (the new one) reads faster, but the D501 reads most accurately.

Would you agree?

If I was to try and sell it, what should I look to get? $100, $150, $200, more, less?

Thanks.

Great so I've found a buyer, but have no idea what to charge.

You might try searching the For Sale thread here, I know there have been several. Search turns up over a dozen. Should give you an idea what it may be worth.

Might also look on eBay.

Hhmm.

I've looked on ebay and found next to nothing.

I have also searched here and only found 4 hits.

Let me try again......

I think the D501 was the temp scanner to have before the DX501 came out. Not sure of the spec differences, but the old rectangular box sure did work good.

Let's go straight to the source:

Here is the one you have http://exergen.com/industrl/dseries/index.html

Here is the newer DX501:
http://exergen.com/industrl/dxseries/index.html

The one you have does not have the latest styling, but its still better that 99.999999 % of the others out there.

I guess no one knows the value.

I hate to see what the market bears on items like this. One sold on ebay for $30, but I think that is way too low for what you are getting.

One guy has new ones listed at $600 which is way too much.

Oh well, might have to hit ebay with a minimum price to see if I can get it.

Thanks all.

I picked up a d501 for $80.00 which I think is a good price. The Dx501 "used" goes for about $150.00. The d501 is a little slower. The dx 501 was made exclusively for the rc market. The dx 501 is easier to read. I've seen multiple people grab my d501 and have to flip it around to read the temp. Both are very accurate. But the dx501 is a little more user friendly. (there is only one way to grab it)
