HS-625MG Servo in B44
#1
Hi All,
Just having a few problems with my Hitec 625-MG.
I've had the servo in a B44 for about a year now and it was working great when I first got it.
But now I can't seem to get the servo horn on to mount vertically when the servo is centred. So I get heaps more steering in one direction than the other. Someone mentioned that I can limit the throw in one direction, but then I'll have less steering in both directions.
Also, from reading the specs of the servo, it is supposed to traverse through 60 degrees in 0.18 secs (4.8V). Is this particularly fast? My steering in my RTR Lazer ZX5 (using the stock servo that came in the car) is heaps quicker than the Hi-Tech in the B44.
Also, the Hi-Tech seems to slow down at the end of the steering throw (if that makes any sense) so you get 4/5's lock then full lock comes a bit later.
Nothing is fowling the steering mechanism in the B44, so I can only attribute this behaviour to the servo itself.
The servo is a year old and has been through its fair share of knocks (my car does seem to spend a fair bit of time on its roof
).
Could it be that the servo has been knocked out of alignment? (explaining why I can not get the servo horn vertical when the servo is centred) or has been damaged? (explaining the slow speed or slow down when going full lock)
Does anyone know what type of servo is in the Lazer ZX-5 RTR?
If I could get that speed and accuracy in the B44 I would be happy.
I was thinking of putting a Futaba AS9402 in the B44 as I have heard lots of good stuff about this servo, but it is kinda pricey. Does anyone know if you have to swap the wire around to plug it into my Spektrum receiver?
Thanks for any advice.
