Default LiFePo4 question ?

I been wanting the Lipo power and weight loos, but i could never fit then into my JRX-S w/o modifcation.

So after waiting around and searching around i found this.
http://rcbuy.vstore.ca/product_info..../cName/lifepo4

Few questions:
Are these LiFe Cells that all the higher end chargers say they can charge ?
(Charger says LiPo 3.7v LiFe 3.3v LiIon 3.6v)

Since they are 3.3v Per cell. Can i make 3 in series to get 9.9v and then Parralel it up with a second 3 cell series to bump up my mah to 2000mAh ? The end result would be 9.9v with 2000mAh on a 6 cell ? Now how would i chrage them as ? 2S3P Will be treated as 2S ?

The rating on them are 30c to 60c Peak, which is 30-60x2000mAh=60amps-120amps then ?

And the last question is will these run decent in a touring car ?
Speed Passion 2.2 LPF 80-440amps it handles 2-3 cell Lipo 7.4-11.1

Your thoughts will it work or do know any other places that sell LiFe With More mAh ?

yeah go check maxamps.com they have a 4500mah and up LiFEpo batterys for sale now. i like the sound of faster charging and no worrying about a cut-off. I just wonder if you can charge these new Lifepo's with a regular lipo charger or do you need a special charger?

Humm maxamps 3 problems.
1. $150 effing bucks for a 1st gen battery nty
2. My JRX-S Pro (not R) was designed around the nimh 3200cell Tiny SubC Smaller than the Standard 4600SubC. I arleady have issues fitting a Lipo Hard case in my chassis.
3. I never liked Max amps i dont know why ...

My Charger can charge LiFe LiPo LiIon =D Turnigy 6 ICE and EQ2 and so on can also.

LiFePo4 are A123 aka LiFe

Interesting, trading Speed and Punch for runtime, with less weight and the old side by side configuration.

What you describe would be charged as a 3S, it's a 3S2P.
I don't think the ICE does LiFe batteries.

Have you looked here - these guys have a solid rep over on rcgroups. The one you linked looks a little shaky.

I bought 2 sets of 4600mAh 2s2p with charger form ebay for $100. I tested these out on a slash but with the lower voltage they did not perform very well. These are now my practice cells.

My 4wd with MMax 5700 runs very good. I can tell they are still slower than a Lipo.

The ones that the OP linked to are older. Only 3.2v
Look for these:

The 18650 cells are 3.3v 1100mAh.

The 26650 cells are 3.3v 2300mAh. Search around and you can get these cheaper by buying a dewalt pack and make your own.

Also note the size of these to make sure they will fit.

Yeah size i need them to be the exact size of the old 3200 nimhs.

Which is old style subC not the 4600 SubC.

I just bought my first LiFe battery, it's an IP 3000MAH 25C.

What should I set my ESC voltage cut off to?

I read somewhere someone said that it should go under 12VDC? What does that mean?

Thanks.

I've seen 2.5v/cell recommended as lvc for this type of LiFe. Charge it fully before ypu use it. Some are saying these need a breakin.

You need a charger that has a life / a123 setting as they have a nominal voltage of 3.3 and fully charged 3.6, cant be charged on normal lipo setting

No need to run any lvc with life packs, turn it off completely if you have that option

You will see power noticeably drop off when they hit 2.8v or so and they hold bugger all capacity between 2.8 and 2.0v

Newer Life packs come with reccomendations to not go below 2.5v for the first 10 cycles, then they can go down to 2.0v

Cheers

True, I'll just do the cycles a few times, that should suffice.

Thanks.
