Will my non pro Millenium charge 3000NiMh cells and OVER (5000NiMH) ?

Yes it will be fine. I just check the specs on Novaks site and it doesn't say that there is a mah limit. either way if there is a limit the charger will just stop charging, doing no harm the the packs.

Just getting back into the hobby, is the Millenium still a good charger to date?
If i just plan to stick with NiMh and NOT the new LIPO, LIFE ..etc it should be good enough?

I hear the Thunder CV6 is a good charger for the $$ , but if the Millenium is still up to date, I can just invest in better batteries.

So stay with Millenium + better bats or dump it for a CV6?

When I checked the specs I made sure it was a NON-pro version. Sure you charger is still just as good as it was when you bought it! IMO Lipo is the way to go, but Nimhs are still really fun... so either way you can't loose. Just make sure you take good care of your nimh packs to get the most out of them!

If your going to stick with nimhs, your Mellenium will do you just fine! You can get lipos from china pretty cheap.... a 4000mah hard case for just $25 plus shipping (hobbycity.com and don't worry they are safe to order from) I normally get about 15-20mins of hard racing out of them. You WOULD need to get a new charger though. I'd say if you don't feel like your ready for lipos then stick with nimhs for about 6months- a year gather info on lipos then take the plunge!

as far as a 3000nimn to a 3000lipo, in short no. Lipos almost have a constant power band with a SHARP drop when they are dead, where nimhs have a constant decrease in power until they are dead. It's also no ok to run a lipo until it is dead, you will destroy the pack if you do this... where as a nimh that's what you are supposed to do. Also it seems that a lipo of the same cap. as a nimh will have a longer run time. I hope I've helped and not confused you!

I think i might take the plunge and get a THUNDER AC6 Lipo Charger. A steal for $55. just not sure about reliability ?

There's been a few posts here about probs, but from how many are selling (seem to be out of stock every time I look), its doesn't seem thats a real prob.

Lipo is definitely the way to go. With the quality and prices of Lipo coming out of China there is no reason at all to stick with Nimh. I also have that charger and have been using the crap out of it almost daily with no problems at all, my friends bought some and have been doing the same. Lipo 3000 will run longer than a Nimh 3000 because of a lower internal resistance and lighter weight. Voltage stays almost constant thru the entire run, and with the extra runtime you dont need to run them all the way down. I hesitated for a long time because of the initial cost, but I see now I was wasting money on all those Nimh packs.
If you have made the switch to brushless then you see the difference. for me its about a 100 to 1 savings I see now during a race season for motors. With Lipo it seems to be at least 50% of the same improvement, which is extremely well justified for spending a tiny bit more from the start.
