I'm wiring up a 4wd buggy and considering soldering 3.5mm male bullet connector directly to the motor's solder tabs. This would allow me to easily unplug the motor for maintenance and the like.

I imagine soldering it won't be hard if I'm generous with the solder. What I am concerned about is the amount of contact area between a cylindrical bullet and the motor's solder tab.

Anyone know if this would result in high resistance connection that would noticeably degrade the performance of a 17.5t motor?

I did that for a while. It was convenient when swapping motors, but I found myself not swapping motors that much. I noticed no difference in performance.

Personaly I would put the bullets more inline on the wires. I just wouldn't want the 3 bullets all soldered that close together because if they touch, from say a crash, bad things are gonna happen. I realize that the tabs could get pushed together with the ends of the wires soldered on too but it seems less likely than with a big bullet connector hanging there. JMO

And your photo only shows the motor and the sensor harness, I don't see any bullets.

You could solder them directly to the tabs but it would be better to have leads coming off.
