Sounds more like expensive fire rather than cheap lipo

I'd be willing to bet at least one "popular" manufacturer has their cells made in the same factory as these.

Definitely give them a shot.

Yes, maybe thats true, but if these are assembled using cells that failed to meet that well known company's specs what does that tell you? There is usually a diff in cell quality and the more expensive lipos are matched when assembled. This is why there's a price diff. The lack of cell matching leads to the cells going out of balance easier (with less mah discharged) and to a bigger voltage diff.

Someone with a less expensive lipo was asking in another thread if .12v was much diff between cells. For mine thats a huge diff - thats 120mv and I rarely see more than 3 to 5mv diff. The .12v diff is enough to let an lvc setting of 6v overdischarge a cell and puff.

If you want a cheap and good LiPo try Zippy Flightmax lipos.

edit: stay away from their hardcase lipos though, those have some known solder quality problems.

I've been using those cheapy hardcase Zippy lipo and don't have any problem with them. They ballanced just fine on the charger. Other racers tried them also and can't tell the difference between them and the name brand ones. The cost of the name brand ones are ridicules, and they're made from the same country. Those name brand companies need to lower their prices by a lot to get my business. It's also the same thing with those lipo chargers.

You could also try the Yeah Racing 3200 Lipos. As they are ROAR legal, so they would be legal anywhere you go. You can usually find them 2 for $80 on eBay. I would try those before any knockoffs.

I have not tried those but look me up on ebay resell-it user id.
I have bought the EC power for 25.00 3200 25c , 4 of the yeah racing 2 x 3200 and 1 x 4000 and 1 x 3600, 1 smc 3200 and 1 venom 3200 .
I can turn the same exact lap times with each pack . NO DIFFERENCE
The other racers at my track have started buying the other lipos now that they have seen mine run. I had an orion 3600 but got rid of it because of the different balance port but it ran the same as the others.
I DO balance charge at every charge and they all charge up to the rated capicity except the EC power which will not charge past 3174mah. but it runs strong.
so far I like the yeah packs the best as they have the most solid feel and i have used them the most at around 45 cycles so far. I run a sphere with a lrp 13.5 and mod brushed before that.
I use the newer triton EQ balance charger. Very Happy with it.
I would buy in this order Yeah, smc ,venom , ec power.
I like the look of the smc carbon but yeah quality is great too
longevity is what I am watching for now
Be sure to use the Maxpro 2s lipo monitor too. on the bay.

After a recent lipo experiance, I switched to an SMC Lipo. I like it so much more. Lap time went from a 6.5 to 5.7 after a battery change. Also the cycle life on a higher quality lipo is alot more. Good luck getting customer support on the cheap ones also. Give them a try. I know the Yeah Racing ones are Superb. but IDK about that one on ebay. Zippy and Yeah are they best "inexpensive lipos". Also this said not to charge beyond 1.5 amps?

update: the balance wire came off Both of the ec power packs. broke at the soldier joint. easy to fix but a pain in the a** because you have to split the hardcase open.
I beleive I will stick to the yeah lipos for now. best balance of power and durability.
