M8 Lipo Conversion Complete
#1
1 Ebay 11.1v 2200mah Lipo w/Z connector. (22bux!!!)
1 JR Servo Extension (Heavy Duty Wire)
Insulation foam
2 Cold Beverages
1 Soldering Iron
1 more Cold Beverage
Now my Trusty M8 is 1/3lb lighter, better/longer lasting battery without cycle worries, no issues with trays breakin, sliding out by accident, cracking or charge jacks goin south.....
And in an emergency can still go back to using a tray of nimh's.
Simply solder ur wire to the pcb in the front of the battery tray holder. that way it can receive juice from either source (the prongs for nimh or ur connector wire for lipo). make sure u make ur extension plenty long enuff so u can reach down in there and grab it easy for charging. here is 1 case where excess wire is a good thing. some insulating foam and she's good to go @11volts+
please be forewarned, take time to have thorough knowledge of the m8 and how its guts go together. if during the 1st time u take it apart you only observe, mark screws, and take pictures to see how it goes together (also applies for antenna mod) then back together without doing anything and insuring the radio works, i'd advise it. i suggest pictures. it will save much time.
now go get ur trusty radio updated for more years of good times, and like ur cars, less time on charger! this all can be done and u'll understand much more bout the hobby and ur radio.......for the price of good nimh's. hopefully u dont need a new tray...
good luck
