Hyperion Charger Question
#1
I have a HYPERION EOS0606I and am wondering if it would be possible to charge 2 Lipos on it at the same time. Not a 4S pack but to seperate Lipos.
I have a T4, B4 and am considering getting an SC10 and I plan on running them at the track on the same nights. I have 3 5000Mah batteries and wanted to save myself a little money bu not having to buy another charger. I would just charge 2 of the batteries at the same time and run the other one.
Would that work or do I need another charger? Are there any charges that will charge 2 at the same time?

No, the 0606i has only a single set of charge leads - you would have to charge as a single lipo with the two wired together in series. The balance taps would have to be wired together as well, but in parallel if I have it right.
Hyperion DUO is made to do two lipos (or a123 or NiMh or NiCd or Pb) at once, but is a high end, deluxe charger, so its expensive ~$300. There are a few others, but I can't recall names atm.

Series (both mains and balance taps) might result in a lot of balancing time if the two batteries weren’t at the same charge level to start with.
Parallel (again both) might cause a pretty large rush of current between the two as you hook them up if they are at much different charge/voltage levels. I know parallel batteries are somewhat common in general, but the very low internal resistance of lipos makes this a little dicey it seems to me, but I’m not sure. Especially with the balance tap wiring, those won’t handle a lot of current.
Either way, the 606 is limited to 50 watts I believe, so at least during the CC portion you would be limited to about 3 amps into each battery (either series or parallel) instead of the standard 5 amps. Would help some at the end during the lower power portion of the CV stage though I guess.
Bottom line, suggest shopping for an additional charger.

Heli guys do this all the time, its a common question - like I said IIRC (and I didn't...) the batts are wired together in series (2 3S in this case to make a full 6S) and the balance wiring is also serialed (not paralleled!!!), this converts 2 3S lipos into a 6S1P. You have to have the balance taps serialed otherwise balancer can't see each cell.
