Looking for a "budget" 13.5T combo setup
 

Well, my Local track really does not have Mod Truck, so I likely will need to pick up a 13.5T setup. Novak and LRP both make "sport" setups....I prefer Losi, but a 80$ difference is a big chunk of change.

Thanks. I see separate ESC's and motors, but not a combo solution. Do I
just piece the 2 together in the cart?

This is Novak's factory-remanufactured SS13.5 Pro Brushless Motor. Based on Novak’s Velociti-Series Racing Brushless Motors, it is 13.5-turns and is similar to a 27-turn brush motor.

When we solder the items together for packaging, we call it a "system". When we offer them separately, we call them a "combo". The items purchased separately will include all accessories included in the systems.

Yes, you add to the cart separately. We offer so many different systems, that in the re-manufactured store, we generally only offer the items individually.

When we say that the 13.5 BL motor is like a 27 turn brush motor, we are describing approx performance. There is no exact correlation between the different technologies.

I agree there is no true equal but ROAR (like them or not) and most tracks, actually all that I know of, run them this way; 13.5/19t and 17.5/27t. I would check with your local track first.;)

I think the documentation should be updated for the current 2009 ROAR rules, as it specifies SuperStock as 19T Brushed/13.5T Brushless and 27T brushed/17.5T Brushless.....

Well, up till 2009 10.5T was going to be superstock....too bad...I'd rather have that than the 13.5T :lol::D

These are ROAR rules for 2009 so it's not like your really behind the times, it just confuses the new guy who really doesn't know all the details yet. Don't worry I still sweat orange and bleed blue (AE)..:lol:

But they finally leveling the play ground between brushed and brushless.
Though brushless is still a better way to go if money is not an issue.

I'm thinking the opposite.

Brushless is the way to go if money IS the issue. No motor "maintenance", no comm cutting, no brushes to replace, no springs to tinker with. Just throw it down and run it over and over. It might cost a bit more initially, but overall cost will be lower.

not true! brushless has not made anything less expensive, for all out racing.
for club racing it has made it a bit cheeper but keeping up with the jones' it has made it harder.

atleast with brushed racing you could make a dud motor faster and try to keep up with driving. but a dud motor with brushless means you have to buy a new motor.

i have talked with many sponsored guys and brushless hasnt made it any easier on their end with all the speedos and motors.

the owner of darkside motorsports (a local guy here) said he was never down on power when he ran brushed but he thinks he is always down on horsepower with brushless.

brushless just made it so you dont have to bring the comm lathe but your bringing the laptop instead. ( i always did anyway)

i would suggest save up and get a tekin rs (or rs pro) the speedie is much better in my opinion and smaller

the novaks can be good motors but without the removable sensor harness i wont be getting one.

He is right. Save your money and get a Tekin RS with a 13.5 motor combo.
If you where going 4WD,then buy Tekin RS Pro. The Pro handles the 5.5 and lower hot motors.

Tekin has great tech support on their Web/forum and also on here too.

They are smooth running,small in size and you won't burn up the motor if the sensor wire disconnects on you.

Go for the Tekin!
