Default Hyperion EOSO606i Charger Question

I just got one of these new, and a new Tenergy 7.4V 5200mAh 30c battery. Im guessing to charge at 3000 is that right?
My main question here is, when I hook up the connectors to the charger including the balancing cable, it beeps and says the charging voltage is to high. I dont have it plugged into the battery. If I unplug the balancing cable, it will not beep and seems to charge fine, but when I plug the balancing cable back i it beeps again and says to much voltage. What am I doing wrong? Thx

Set it at C=5200mah and 2s. Charge 5.2 amps max, or 1C. (the 30C is a max discharge rating, not charge info)

Try plugging the balancer plug into the charger last, after everything else is attached. Then unplug balancer plug from charger first when done. At least that’s what I do to avoid the beeping.

This is the response I got from Hyperion. You should be able to return it and get a newer version that does not require this.

This is the response that I got from Hyperion:

Hi Steve,

Sorry, we also discovered this minor incompatibilty between the 0606i series error checking, and Orion-style harnesses. I need to document that in the manual online...

I'm travelling at the moment so can't confirm, but I think It's easily remedied by connection/disconnection sequence. If my memory is correct, disconnect as:

Balancer
Neg. at Charger
Positive and Neg at Battery
Positive at charger

Firmware is not upgradable on the 0606i series, so it is not visible. We have changed some things, like adding STORE mode on latest releases, and you can tell the difference by charger part number (latest are -B).

I understand it can be fixed to work properly. I sent mine in this week and will let you know how it turns out.

I just spoke to Brian at Empire RC in Apache Junction,AZ. I had sent my charger in for repair of the same problem you are experiencing. They are the Warranty location for Hyperion in the USA. He was able to get it to duplicate the problem, so he has already shipped me a brand new one. He tested the new one before shipping it out and it works properly. The charger should go to the home screen once you hit the stop button without having to unplug wires in a certain order, you should only have to unplug the wires at the battery. I would suggest you either return it where you purchased it for a newer version or you can contact Brian at 480/982-0909 for repair/exchange.

Hmm, that's interesting.

I found the same problem with my EOSO606i when charging my Orions. I just figured out to plug the balance connector last.

Maybe I should check to see if I can get it upgraded?
