Default Typical Range of surface 2.4ghz tx

I'm wondering exactly what the post says. What is the typical range of a 2.4ghz transmitter. Im talking about on the surface, so surface receivers and all that. I'm looking into upgrading from my AM(w00t technology) setup and am wondering if the benefits will really be great enough to offset the cost. Mainly im looking at gettin the losi/spektrum dsm tx/rx. Its cheap, has areliable name behind it, and im pretty sure it has all the servo reversing and everything. I don't race or anything, I just have an e-maxx BL setup, and the range is about 100feet if I'm lucky lol. Just cant find any specs on range with a 2.4, any input would be appreciated.

Ive searched for about 20 minutes but cant find what im looking for. so dont flame me on not searching. I even read like half the posts in the 80+ spektrum post. Looked into the axon transmitter, but from what ive read its cheap and fixed on one channel. No thanks.

I don't know the answer, I've never gotten it far enough away that I've lost control. With either a DSM DX3.0 or a DSM2 DX3R. Never tried our mini/Losi job. I have taken them well past where I would have trouble with my old KO & Futaba AM stuff (hand tweaked even) for sure, to the point where I was having trouble seeing it.

okay, so would it be safe to say at least 100 yards? if i could triple my range i would say its worth the investment. anyone have word on where to get these cheap? the transmitters go for 25 bucks on ebay but the receivers are like 50-60ish. Anyone know of a retailer with about the same price or better?

Well, I tested the range of my Futaba Fasst system in my nitro car. I had my kid hold it while I kept walking away. It was set up with the antenna bundled, with only a small bit sticking up. Basically, I lost sight of the car before I lost control.

If you get a 2.4ghz set up, range will not be a problem. And there are plenty of excellent 2.4ghz radios out there from several different companies. Many of which don't go much beyond $180. Futaba, Spectrum, Losi, etc...all have good units.

if you put in a search on ebay for losi dsm you will get a decent amount pop up.
i got these for my kids cars. got 3 total now. i got each one for about 60-70 total for each one. rx and tx.
look for the listings that have both the rx and tx together.

not sure which version of the emaxx you have but the tx only supports 2 channel

well, i found a deal and jumped on it. cheapest buy it now ive seen in three days AND it came with batteries, rx and tx. even though i already had eight rechargeables for my tq-3 transmitter lmao. But hey, 69.99 aint bad at all for all that. thanks for the tip man. Otherwise i was gonna drop 95 bucks seperately.
