Need some advice....

Hello all, I am currently looking at the Spektrum DX3s radio setup, and I was wondering if anyone has anything to say about it.

I like the telemetry that it is equipped with. But how does that work, is the a wire running into the cooling head, and transmission to get temperature and rpms?

also what are some problems or concerns you have had with it?

I like Futaba stuff, and I like Airtronics stuff, but why spend 360+, when I can essentially get the same thing (minus a few features) for 250-270.

thanks in advance,
Brandon Ryan

From what I understand, it hasnt came out yet, and I know Amainhobbies.com wont get it until Dec.1

If you run a brushless setup, it comes with a little sensor to apply to the motor itself, and the RPM has a sensor as well, which you apply a little black dot on the spur gear, and then hook up the sensor to the spot you need to, so it can read the dot.

It's basically the same thing as their Telemitry unit they currently sell.

I run 1/8 buggy, so how does that work?

for the temp, there is a wire what they recommend you run under the head of your motor. It's like a big loop, and it just sits under there, and give you a pretty accurate temp.

RPM for the nitro is a little different. You will put the black dot on the flywheel and the sensor attach's to the motor mount, via a aluminum bracket, and it sit's pretty close to the flywheel, and is monitored that way.

I would like to get one, but I currently use the DX3r, which is DMS2, and the DX3s is DSM. So my receivers won't work, which is a downside for me not to get a DX3s

Euro Stealth 10-30-2008 02:03 PM

the dx3s comes with a receiver though, no?

JGruber 10-30-2008 02:04 PM

It comes with 2 of them.

1 is for the sensors

1 is for another car, which is a basic DSM reciever

Euro Stealth 10-30-2008 02:05 PM

so where is the problem?

JGruber 10-30-2008 02:17 PM

The DX3s isnt compatible with DMS2. Which is what I use

Euro Stealth 10-30-2008 02:29 PM

im confused, it comes with trans and receiver, iunno the problem.

JGruber 10-30-2008 02:37 PM

There is no problem. Only if you use a DX3r

Euro Stealth 10-30-2008 02:51 PM

so sell it and buy the dx3s, problem solved, i so smart

JGruber 10-30-2008 02:57 PM

That would cost me a lot of money. I have 4 DSM2 receivers now, at $100 a pop.

I would need to buy all new DSM receivers and the sensor stuff

Euro Stealth 10-30-2008 03:12 PM

no one told yo u to buy 4 silly.
