Coz slowing servo response slows over the entire servo travel but that's not really what's needed. Expo on the other hand, just calms things down around neutral which is what's needed, then brings the servo speed/travel back to normal neering the endpoints, where there's no problems anyway, so expo doesn't alter things there much, while slowing the servo speed would.
That's my reason why anyway.

ok just bought the airtronics m11x and I can't help but feel overwhelmed by all the adjustments and what they do.
Is there somewhere on rctech or the internet that explains them in layman terms? I really liked the feel and response of the radio, more than any other radios I've used, but I need someway to make it easier, so I can make the most of it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Congrates on the purchase! This thread is actually an information gold mine, probably the most informative thread on the M11x on the internet. But you have to dig thru the dirt (87 pages 1300 post!) to get to the gold though. We are all here to help if you need one.

I just bought a used M11X Radio from a UK forum, everything works perfectly so far, but I have tried to understand the manual with many problems. Does anyone know how to reset all the model memories to factory defaults. I am currently using a model memory from the previous user, but I really need to start again from defaults, I have tried following the manual, but everytime the radio displays (display mode on) As if the radio is not in the correct mode for changing settings. I have been able to rename model memories, but I would prefer to delete all the settings and start a fresh.
Thanks
raymond.

You should be able to just clear a model memory, it's very easy. Bit too long to describe all the steps, well not long, very wordy. But have a look on p.32 of M11x manual and each step in the process is shown there.
I know for a fact that there is no 'factory reset' for either M11 or M11x unfortunately. I spoke with Airtronics support technicians when I first purchased my M11x because I thought it had something wrong with it and that was one of my first questions to them and they said 'No, can't be done'. But with 30 model memory positions, why would you need to use one from the previous owner? Why not just go to an unused position and start from there?
Regarding the Display Mode, what is the problem you're experiencing? That was actually what I thought was stuffed on mine, because the manual has the a rather pathetic explanation of Display Mode and how one knows if they are in Display Mode or not.
Remeber also, there are some functions that can only be set in Display Mode and, that awesome manual's at it again, it doesn't mention the necessity to be in Display Mode to alter certain settings.

Any help would be appreciated.Print out Table of Contents from the PDF manual, p.2, and get out few different coloured pens or markers or whatever. Place a tick next to all the options you already are familiar with, things like End Points, Dual Rate, Exponential, Sub Trim, etc. Read over the specific pages in the manual, just to make sure your understanding of these settings is the same as Airtronics' definition.
Next, take a different colour pen and circle any settings you might have heard of but really not too sure what they do. Again, read the pertinent pages in the manual and you should have a better idea of what they do. Although, it can be quite difficult to understand and interperate just exactly what the manual is trying to explain. Other times, it is just so stupid, it's ridiculous.
Finally, see what's left that you haven't marked off on the contents page and still have no idea what those settings do and either google them or ask here.
Also, just remember that not all settings need to be understood. I have no idea how to set the channel mixing, but I have no desire to find out as I drive a 1/8 buggy, not a crawler or something. I also don't really care too much about brake mixing, compensation mixing, actually that's it. But I still read over them, then decided I'll not be using that function, hence no reason to worry about it.
Hope that helps mate.

Thanks for your help guys, I managed to work out how to clear the model names and reset M01: to what I am using. I now understand there is no Factory reset or clear for everything. I have managed all the usual settings, DR/EPA/EXP etc and understand most of them. I am running electric 10th offroad - a Durango DEX410, I will experiment more tomorrow at the track. Trying not to be overwelmed with all the adjustments, but most setting are now back to what the manual describes as defaults, and will take it from there.
Thanks again.
Raymond.

I´m still stuck here, the other day I was almost 100% sure of going for the M11X. But now Im stuck in limbo again between the M11X and the Futaba 4PKS they are both great systems I gather, I´ve held both and they both feel great in my hands, the M11X is rather cheaper than the 4PKS here in sweden.
Any good tips on why I should go for the M11X? talk about crazy problems here, people are starving or going six feet down al over the world and Im stuck on what receiver to buy? But hey that life right....

I reckon I have a solution for you, for now anyway...

You must have missed the several times I suggest to grab a pen or texta and circle or underline or place tick next to whatever setting is in question?
We're only human after all, therefore on average, most of us have just a 7 item memory when considering a list or just multiple individual items - and that's on a good day.

Hey Guys, is there a way to lock trim 4 and 5 buttons on the hand grip? always managed to hit it whenever I pickup the control, maybe my hands haven't adjusted to justnpicking up the controller without paying much attention to hand placement position
Edit: also any of yous guys use lipo batteries that can fit nicely into the controller without cutting and hacking that can be brought at amainhobbies?

Many of us use LiPos that don't require anything other than plugging in and inserting into battery compartment. Not sure if A-Main has them but the Intellect 2300mAh 2S LiPo can be purchased from ebay for $20 with free shipping worldwide. Actually, I think maybe I've seen an uber-expensive LRP 3600mAh LiPo that will also do the job, albeit for WAY more than $31, which is 57% on top of the price of the Intellect (that's how much more capacity the LRP has, so logic would suggest the price should be around the same % higher). Might be around $60+ I think.
Dunno about locking out the trims (not even sure how you would go about locking or unlocking them if you could), but you could always just disable them/remove any function from those positions.
