Default Spread Spektrum GTB?

Is the Novak Spread Spektrum GTB ESC only to be used w/a spread spektrum radio, or can it be used w/any radio? Thanks for replies

I think it's says "use only with spektrum 2.4Ghz radio".

Speaking of this esc, when first installing it do I/should I bind the Rx first before setting up the esc? (the one touch setup, not profile setup).

Sorry to hijack

Spread spectrum 2.4 Ghz radios only.

Bind first, then set up ESC. Otherwise, ESC will not receive signals to "set up" off of.

The Rx is bound now from when I had the brushed motor in. But the fail safe will need to be changed etc. Wasn't sure if it was best to reset that to zero as my radio setting are back to zero to start.

I guess I should say "re-bind".

From Novak...

Always a technological leader, Novak has upgraded the GTB ESC to work with spread spectrum systems from manufacturers such as Spektrum™, Nomadio™, and Futaba™. Since spread spectrum technology uses a much higher frequency, 2.4Ghz to be precise, this has allowed Novak to finally unleash the full potential of the GTB speed control. Both new GTB models now have significantly faster MOSFET switching speeds, which provide improved performance and cooler operating temperatures. In short, the ESC gets power and increased operational efficiency at the same time!

HIGH-SPEED SWITCH
MOSFET switching speed is a key feature for the spread spectrum specific GTBs. The MOSFET switching speed is not just the frequency of the ESC, it’s actually how fast the ESC’s MOSFETs turn on and off. With regular radios, ESCs are limited by how fast they switch on and off. If it switches too fast, the radio system will experience interference. With spread spectrum technology this is not an issue. Novak Engineers have been able to take full advantage of this great new technology and now offer a high-speed switching GTB for all spread spectrum users. While users should not expect a huge difference in feel or driving style, they will notice improved motor operation and lower ESC operating temperatures.

i think your right.. i have a novak HV system and my ESC would sometimes arm faster than my reciever and i would have 1 or 2 seconds of WOT... first couple of times it happened caused major damage. I think this is an issue they fixed.

That 1-2 Seconds of WOT is simply from not having your failsafe function configured correctly... Guess what's gonna happen if for some reason you loose radio signal...

That things gonna go hauling into a wall.

As for the GTB... It works with any SPREAD SPECTRUM system... Not just SPEKTRUM branded systems.. Basically any 2.4Ghz system.

I have both versions and I can't honestly tell a difference... but I guess since they are the same money... why not get the one that claims to be better if you have a 2.4 System huh?

no sir... this was an issue with their ESC... not the actual fail safe setup...though i am sure some people set up their fail safe incorrectly.... BUT read novaks response. all my Recievers are binded the same way and my novak systems are the only ones that had that issue (ocassionally) this issue has been discussed on other forums as well as this one.
