Default |Need some help choosing a radio|

Hey guys,

I previously had a normal 2channel HOBAO radio for my rtr car. Im moving it up a step and went for a tourer kit that im willing to race at my local club. I do want to use both cars and dont want to strip out the radio gear every time.

So what radio do you guys recommend that wont break the 250 mark. I want to stay low on the budget because I'm only a teen and work twice a week for my money.

I was thinking the the Sanwa MX-3FHSS 2.4 Ghz but I've heard that It has It's limitations. I then thought on to the dx3 but apparently the range is not so great, especially that my track is farely large.I would prefer a radio with servos included for I have absolutely no Idea on which servers to get.

Cheers

go to a shop and look the radios over, if wont mean crap if its a great deal and it has all that you want if if doesnt feel right in your hand. sounds dumb, but its the truth. check out used classifieds for folks gettin rid of radios all the time. might score somethin u thought u couldnt.

servos, considerin u said u had an OFNA RTR, i'm guessin ur 1/8bug or trug. u'll be spendin a couple hundred bux there if your gonna go thru the time and effort to change them out. honestly hold off on ur T/B servo (keep ur old steering unit as a backup), and change your steering servo for a faster/stronger unit than what came with the car. JRs have 3yr warranties if that matters to you, but futaba and AR make the best units. hitec might look attractive in price sometimes (honestly not so much anymore), but stay to the 3 brands listed above. good torque and good spd and u'll be fine. honestly if you just wanna upgrade your radio to get on 2.4 and not worry bout crystals, then take care of that and wait on the servos. idk where your from but if your season ends around sept/oct, perhaps wait til next yr to address those things and any other problem areas that have cropped up. i'll take a shot and say that during school ur prolly not workin as much if at all, so there's less cheese (to be 16 or so and pay 4/gal eek).

good luck, enjoy the hobby

Thanks for the reply.

Nah, I like my on-road Thanks for the pointers I'll definately take a stop at my LHS and have a feel. Too bad my LHC sells their products a few hundred more than I see online.

Lets say i get the mfhss, will the servos be just as crap as the stock ones in my old rtr? Or would i just be better off buying a Futaba 3PM or something and get the servos seperately?

Thanks again.

(Im 14 )

in that case, buy the radio you want. servos wont really be an improvement. just spares. run ur car and enjoy it, if a servo goes...u have a spare.
