So what's that best brushless to get for an RC18B?

I'm looking on Hobbypartz.com (US based Chinese distributor)

They've got the EZRun 18A and the 25A, I'm just assuming bigger is better and should get the 25A right?

Does Hobbywing make a sensored version?

Does anybody know anything about the Novatech ESCs?

The 35a is much softer on the start than the 60a.Also part of the problem is the Tacon motor. They are the same as the finned can hobbywing motors meaning they are a 540 size can with a 380 size rotor, so they dont produce much torque off the line compared to an actual 540 size motor.I think I would see if you could borrow a motor from a race buddy for a couple runs to see if that gives a little better grunt off the line. You will see a difference.

thanks for the suggestion, i'll try swapping motors before i buy a new motor/esc combo.

What are you going to run it in? And yes they do make a sensored combo, it's called Xerun.

It's going into an RC18B, so the Xerun won't work because it's 1/10 sized for 540s. I need 370 sized.

How's the cogging?

mc4798 06-03-2010 12:20 PM

Virtually none.

I use the 25a and have turnigy 3900kv motor and a 3900kv ammo motor.

Dont let the non-sensored thing get ya. It worried me for along time but was really nothing to worry about.

Any mini-tracks there in Cincinnati ? If so where at ?

Any one use these in there 1/8 buggies ?
Couldnt sell my old buggy so im going to conver it to an electric but dont really want to spend too much. With the price these are very tempting but if its going to fail after 2 or 3 pack, i dont want it.

I use the c2 combo from hobbypartz.com
It has an 80amp esc with the 3674sl motor.
:blush:happy with it.

is the 80a ESC enough for 1/8 cars ? Or should i get the 150a to keep it from getting hot ?

Use it! i haven't used the esc but several prople on here have and love it. I do use the 2250KV 4168 motor in my Losi 8ight controled by a Mamba Max(1/10 scale) esc and it works great. It is alot like a Nue motor and is 4 pole whereas the above mentioned 3674 is a Fiegao-like 2 pole motor.

-punch settings
-timing
-various lipos (20c & 30c)
-gear ratios (my b4 does wheelies, but not instantly)
-various exponential throttle curve settings

do you guys have any other suggestions? im not sure if my problem is esc related or motor related. thanks guys!

I would think esc possibly. The 2230KV is actually a 540(3650) motor, not a 380. What battery are you using? A 2S lipo or 6 cell NIMh is only going to give you about 16502 rpm. You should reach for about 30K. I would try 3S on this motor.
