DX3.0 shuts off and on problem
#1
I have 2 of these radios and they work great till the power drops below 9v then the low batt warning starts which is fine but then the radio itself starts shutting off and on continusly there for shutting the car off as well till it comes back on but thats only for a few seconds. Put new batts in its fine till below 9v, that seems weird to me it shuts off at that voltage, I could see it if they were almost dead and all but with that much juice still in em what gives? Also anyone know how to contact Spektrum directly? Suks you have to go through horizon which when you call them you just get send it in cause they pretty much have no idea what your talking about, be nice to talk to someone that deals with these on a daily basis.
Thanks

The radio might have a voltage requirement for proper 2.4GHz operation, but i just glanced thru the manual and didn't see anything. If Horizon told you to send it in, I'd just do that. Their service dept is known to have quick turnaround times. Click here for the Spektrum Contact Page

I think I read in the manual that 9 volts was the cut off for the DX3.0. The 4 cell DX3R I think is 4 volts.
What batteries are you using and how long does it go? I've got some cheap rechargable 2600 nimhs in mine, it seems to go for quite a while before needing a charge. Several weeks of racing in 2 classes with some playing around in between. I don't even remember the last charge. Don't think I've ever got it below 10. Haven't tried alkalines.
I agree that 9v seems kinda high, especially after getting the sweet DX3R.

Does other peoples radios do that or is it just yours do you know? Because i just bought the DX3.0 and didn't want to hear that. I will have to ask around at my club to see if other peoples do that aswell.

Im using duracells, had rechargables but got tired of forgetting to charge them then get out to where I run my cars and find them dead lol. So just just went to akalines plus you get the little extra voltage, not sure if it matters that much.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone other then mine does this, like I said I have 2 of these and if I stick the low voltage battery pack in either one it does this.

Those Spektrum use a lithium 3V battery inside to keep the setups. I had this problem once, and when i replace the battery, it's gone.
I suppose that problem appear when the voltage of the radio pack drop too low, and maybe the memory and other IC's works improperly. But I'm just guessing.
Try to replace it, maybe that's the problem.

I had problems with my m11 that are similar to this. The problem was that i was using they Duracell rechargebles (i am asuming the same problem may be occuring with the cells your are using) they just didn't hold the juice. bought the orion aa rechargables and the radio was fine

And try to use some rechargeable batteries, it's cheaper at medium terms and environmental friendly.
