Questions?? Fasst Transmitter Modules

I have noticed some of the Fasst transmitter modules have blue graphics...but others have orange graphics. What is the difference, if any?

I am not sure why there are two different colors on the transmitter module. Mine has the orange label, but I have seen some advertised on-line with the blue label. I personally don't think there is a difference at all. Maybe someone else can answer this for you.

Futaba just switched the Fasst color to orange, both on the TX module and the RX. Orange are the newer versions. No difference in performance, as far as I know.

Cool.

I found it weird that my tx was orange but my rx was blue. Every online pic I saw was showing both as blue.

Also 1 different factor is that the newer version..(orange i think) Auto-detect's which Mod u should be on....IE HRS for Digi's PPM for analog and so forth.

The blue vs the orange is a lable design change. All FASST receivers (and modules) have that design now = orange. If any blue ones, they are just slightly older stock.

Are you 100% shure booth of them where R603FS? Maybe one of them are R603FF?

I messured booth right now (R603FS with blue lable and R603FS with orange lable) - they booth weight 13.5 g right out of the box.

As for autodetect PPM/HRS -> all of them have that feature (and it has always been so) no matter what color the decal is -> R603FF & R603FS.

Yes I am sure of the weights as i quoted from the futaba web site and the blue version does not auto detect settings ie ppm,pcm and hrs but the orange does!!!!!!

Ok I understand, so you have not checked the weight (or the autodetect feature) yourself - then I understand. I can tell you the actual weight of the units are what I said in my last post = 13.5 g. If your data is quoted from Great Planes website (the Futaba north america distributor) - then they have written the wrong info. We are the Scandinavian Futaba distriubutor and I messured them myself and my info is 100% correct as I put them on my scale today.

I can also assure you that ALL R603FF, first generation R603FS (without external antenna & blue decal), R603FS with internal and external antenna (as they are now) with blue or orange decal all are autodetect PPM/HRS. Do note, it cant be autodetect PCM as FASST does not work on PCM. If you have any other info then thats simply not the correct info.

http://www.futaba-rc.com -> This is the North America distributors Futaba website = Great Planes.

Check this page:
http://2.4gigahertz.com/receivers/index.html

There you see that Great Planes says that the R603FF receiver weights about 13 g. But do note - that is not the R603FS receiver, the R603FF has no internal antenna = no dual diversity = thats why its lighter then R603FS.

This is Futaba's own website (as in Futaba Japan):
http://www.rc.futaba.co.jp/hobby_en/index.cfm

I am sorry to keep this discussion open but I just need to be 100% sure:

-> Are the blue and the orange versions of R603FS exactly the same?

(The reason I'm asking is that we had a long discussion on the track yesterday. A guy lost control of his car a few times. He was driving with the blue version of R603FS. Somebody said that the problem was due to the old version which has some sort of heat issue. Futaba should therefore have made a new version with orange decals. This is obviously just rumours but I would like to be certain since I'm using both versions myself)

Default R603FS Rx Servo Compatability

Well, it's been a fairly long time since I've posted, but here goes. This time, I'm asking the questions!

I use stick radios, and I generally use my 3VCS or 3VC transmitters. I have 2.4 FASST modules for both, and what I'm querying is this:

Why doesn't my 2.4 system seem to work with the SFL-10MG servo that came with my Baja 5B SS? I'm running in PPM mode, but only my Hitec 5925 (digital) seems to work. When my SFL - 10 servo is connected, it doesn't matter which channel I connect it to, the servo moves rhythmically from endpoint to endpoint, with the R603FS receiver flashing Red/Green.

When the SFL is connected to a 40FM receiver, it works fine.

I've tried both the 3VC and 3VCS with 2 separate PK-FSM2.4G modules. All besides the Tx's are brand spanking new and unused. The problem occurs each time.

This seems to be a specific problem to do with the FASST system and the SFL - 10MG servo. I was under the impression that the system should work fine with analogue servos provided that you run in PPM mode. But I've had no luck so far.

I'm hoping that I don't have to revert to 40FM, as I only have 1 PCM receiver left. And I don't want to buy another digital servo - this time a 1/4 scale size jobbie.

Any ideas guys?

Regards

Horatio

Edit: Future Horatio here. The issue was actually with a weak 6v battery pack, where the voltage was dropping under the load of the steering servo.

It was nothing to do with the radio system.
