what charger?!?!

i am needing a new charger. i am looking at the LRP pulsar 3 with the lrp power supply. i really like LRP products and run their brushless motors & speed controls, so i was kind of leaning that way. i will be using 2s & 3s lipo packs for my 1/10 scale cars as well as the regular nimh battery packs for my minis.
this will be my first go at lipos packs and lipo compatible chargers so i need help.
does the pulsar 3 come with a balancer? do i need a separate balancer? or does a balancer even work with the lrp pulsar 3? i do need a balancer if i plan on using lipos, right?
also if anyone can recommend a better charger and give any pluses and minuses of theirs and the pulsar 3.
thanks in advance!!

I use 2 pulsar 3's and i think they are great although i had a problem with one. Customer service replaced it with a new one and havent had a problem.
I mean basically what your getting is a 4 profile pulsar 2 with more output voltage for lathes and motor break in, 1-3s Lipo capability, and Multi-step charging. Also freezes peak voltage when done charging.
There is no balancer but they can be had cheaply, I haven't bought a balancer yet and i have been using my orion lipos for 4 months and one was barely..... I MEAN BARELY out of balance when i tried someones balancer.
The beauty of this charger is the simplicity, I have had the orion carbon advantage and i have used the ice/1030 and they have nothing on pulsar's for simplicity. You can easily fly through the menu and profiles. I am all lipo/brushless so i don't really need the features anymore but i still love them.
also i don't know why but these charge orion 4800's faster at 1c then my friends ice.... Don't know why but works for me.

Naa cause my buddy has one.
He got a equinox, You can run it inline between the charger and the pack or just plug it in to the battery and it discharges the cell to balance it.
we use it so little with the orions mainly by just plugging it in to the battery. (30-60 days) and they really aen't even out of balance.
I believe the checkpoint balancer is exactly the same as the equinox but with the leads modified already to the 4mm and 2mm bullet connectors.

I just bought a RC Power B6 Charger/Balancer it is very small and easy to use. It also comes with all the most popular lead connections.
