I just acquired a vintage Corally SP12M pan car package that included among other goodies an Airtronics Caliber 3P radio on 27mHz FM band. This transmitter was rather dusty, but with fresh AA batteries in the tray it powered on. My question is with the 8-AA batteries installed and with the power switch turned off, I still see the LCD screen show the voltage of the transmitter batteries. Seems odd to me that it does this. When I push the power switch ON, there is a red light above the LCD screen that then illuminates to show that the Tx is actually transmitting. Is this normal? I downloaded the manual, but can't see anything that mentions this. I'll take a few pics to show.

OK, so the light finally came on and I figured it out. There is a switch hidden behind a small sliding panel with a DISPLAY and a S-POS switch. I turned off the Display switch and the LCD stays off until I turn on the transmitter. Doh!

Along with the SP12M chassis and body, thepackage included a small Airtronics steering servo, Novak receiver, and Novak ESC. There is also the stock Airtronics receiver plus parts, traction compound (the old stuff), battery packs and more. Brings back memories of Cleveland Nationals in 2002 when we got out butts whooped.....LOL

I know, and the Caliber 3P on FM was a radio way out of my budget back in the day. This one is dusty, but otherwise in perfect shape.

I still have that same radio and ESC. Still works but don't use it for competitive racing. Top of the line back in the early 90's.

This was my first "professional" grade radio back when I started racing.....was a great TX.
