Default LRP or Hobbywing ?

Hi,

I'm running in modified touring car category.
I want to buy a new combo and I'm hesitating between Hobbywing Xerun XR10 Pro G2s + V10 G3 4.5T or the LRP Flow X TC spec + X22 4T.
Which one would you advise for ?
It seems perfs wise the LRP combo is better but this is still to be confirmed.

Hobbywing any day of the week. The Flow X is ancient tech and is a real pain to change the settings. Not sure why you think LRP performs better, Hobbywing is winning most of the events these days.

You are right the settings seem to be a bit tedious but that's not a show-stopper for me.
About the perfs I have a guy at my track which runs LRP and he literally flies in the straight !

Any properly set up mod will fly down the straight.

I agree with Gigaplex.
Especially with a 4.5t motor. If your not flying down the straits with a 4.5T, then either your setup is off or your idea of "flying down the straits" is much different than mine.

Hobbywing is probably the most used ESC in the racing world. If the LRP was better, then LRP would be the highest used ESC.

I know a few people who prefer LRP for some reason (which i never understood), but most people prefer (and use) Hobbywing.

But you don't have to use the same manufacturer for ESC and motor - there's no hidden advantage in doing so. The best motor might come from a different manufacturer than the ESC.

It seems I'll go with Hobbywing though.

Perfectly good choice. Just making sure you know you don't have to use their motor when you choose their ESC.

No, there's nothing wrong with them at all. It's just that many new people in this hobby seem to believe that there is an advantage in performance in getting such a combo from the same manufacturer.

Their motors are good, but with a 4.5T, you might not need all the power it has to offer. If you are looking for something, while on a budget, you can check into last gen models. For under $75, you can get a lot of last gen motors, brand new. Revtechs, EcoPowers, Tekin G4, Surpass Rocket, etc...

Minor caveat here, the LRP doesn't work properly with a lot of motor brands. LRP sell a special sensor cable with an attenuator to make them work. Another reason why I avoid the LRP.

LRP has always been a weird company. But this is an exception to the rule. Usually motors and ESCs are all compatible.
