Default ESC / motor combos

Does it matter if you mix ESC / motor brands these days in 1/10 offroad buggy?

No. Hobbywing will say that you get a few additional features when you use their motors, but I don’t think it’s critical.

These additional features of HW apply more to 1/8th scale motors and ESCs though, where at least in theory there should be a difference.

Mixing manufacturers in 1/10th scale doesn't matter at all.

HW did have compatibility issues with the 1/10 motors from SkyRC/Toro rebrands, but if you stick with all the race grade brands of motors (Trinity, Tekin, etc), then you won't have any issues.

Also worth mentioning that by default, HW uses "Hybrid" mode which can be problematic for some brands of motors causing a slight delay from a dead stop, the workaround is to switch the ESC to "Full Sensor" mode to eliminate the delay.
