Adding to this I found in some motor setup combos that I have had required the throttle position to literally almost be a touch ‘on’ in forward position, and tinkering around with brake settings and what not

yea, skewed magnets are the standard outside rc. I have not seen it applied in rc motors however. But if we are wishing for better tech a sinusoidal waveform and field oriented control is the standard for cogging control outside rc.

I have also seen poles separated longitudinally on the rotor rather than side by side which does offer some control advantages.

I do know of experimentation with magnetic material that isn’t north or south but a continuous blend from north to south and back again. this means no big changes in fields that come from stacking north and south side by side.

Hobbywing uses a magnet setup like that with the Axe FOC system.

I know the axe is FOC but is it running skewed magnet stacks? Hobbywing tech is legit. I believe they would be first to the punch if they aren’t already.

They run this, they call it staggered poles. You can see magnets are offset a bit
