Default Trackstar gen 1&gen 2

I just got a couple of the trackstar 1s esc’s, I didn’t get a programming card with them, my question is, is blinky mode a default setting? The manual is a little vague on it. I’m going to order a programmer but won’t be here in time to race, but I have to race blinky. Thanks any help is appreciated

If you plug it in, turn the car and radio on, and the light on the esc is blinking, it should be blinky.
Note: some escs don't start to blink unless you turn your radio on

I bought that Gen 2 programming box from HK. But it keeps reading "Connection Fail". I contacted HK support....at the end they refunded me. But I still need a programming box, and I have no idea how to get it to work. Not sure if I should roll the dice and buy another.
