Default RC Tajm, open-source decoder and timing software

This is the main thread for the open source effort to create a RC decoder and transponder design and software.

At the moment there have been 2 great projects and efforts here on rctech for creating DIY decoders, Howard Canos design and the most recent RCHourglass. But it have come to light that the creator of RCHourglass have decided to go closed source on his project and only continue as a freeware or even payed product in the future.

It might be hard to understand why I do this project when there is a project already that is free, but free and open-source is not the same. Free software is not future safe when the single person working on it decide that he want to put his time and effort elsewhere, and with free software where there is no income this is just a matter of time when. There have been alot of other people testing and contributing with ideas and designs for both these projects and to have it not open source and not part of the community that have helped to create it is in my mind just wrong.

At the moment this will be a open-source software replacement that will run on the hardware design that exists from the previous projects. So you still have to honor the license from the hardware designs when building them.

I have piggybacked on my project RC Tajm that is a python based timing software, until a better name comes to mind there will be the RC Tajm timing software project and the RC Tajm decoder project. Link to github https://github.com/condac/RCtajm https://github.com/condac/rcTajmDecoder

But just to be clear this is a combined effort project and unless more people shows effort and help with the development it will just be a sad unfinished project because I will probably not have the motivation to do solo work here.

I wanted to follow up and see how you are progressing with this project? I had a similar idea a while back but I only wanted to make the timing software that would interact with existing hardware such as AMB/MyLaps. But like you say, you need a few people involved, and it takes up a lot of time.

My project is here, but I didn't get further than mocking up a UI: https://github.com/wildtechza/tqlap
