Building another buggy that will initially be run in a 17.5 class on a smaller carpet offroad. I have a HW G2 that was going to go into it. All of our other cars have HW, but based on reading, I'm thinking there might be better options out there.

LRP has a pretty good following locally and people seem to like it. I've recently learned of Pro-Performance and know a couple people that run them.

Anyone have any real world comparative experience between the LRP and Pro-Performance ESCs?

LRP is good although it looks like the BEC is only 6V so you won't get the faster/higher torque ratings on your servo for 7.4v. Pro-Performance ESCs are a rip off and just budget ZTW escs. If you want a ZTW, get the Team Powers Radon V4 which is a 200A vs the Pro performance 150A. The team powers also has a computer software in addition to the program card. Also, the team powers is $40 less. If you want something more lightweight, then team powers also has the MSRadon 100A which is basically a better HW stock pro V4 (80A).

Team Powers and HW have the 7.4 BEC, LRP is also good, I would not even consider Pro Performance since it's overpriced and under specced.

For my experience my previous ESC was TEKIN RSX pro, Toro, Orion r10 /r10.1, Team orion HMX , HW XR10 pro G2 and last Pro-performance ESC. Only team orion can closed to pro performance that i like. The pro performance is great for stock and MOD compared to HMX and HW XR10 G2. Also pro performance is great for support and services Brian Mills is a great guy he can help you how to set up your ESC also if your Radio Sanwa/M17 their servo is great up to date i can feel the difference from my MKS servo, protek servo. Pro performance servo feel more connected to the car it seems i was inside my buggy very interesting if you bind in steering to SXR take advantage for racing.

Tekin is behind in terms of recent escs and motors, the Toro is a rebranded SkyRC, Orion is gone but the R10.1 and HMX are good, but he HMX is massively overpriced ($385 anyone?), XR10 pro G2 is the safe option.
What makes the Pro-performance ESC better than others? Its only 150A so less than most for mod but plenty for stock. Its also $210 so more than the XR10 Pro G2 Elite ($200) and the most expensive esc mentioned on this list besides the Orions (which aren't even sold anymore). I'm sure the customer service is decent since its a small company but its a ZTW. Can you explain the actual performance benefits? Also I can't find any information about a computer software for them so that means you have to do all the programming on the LCD card which is a pain. I'm sure they work fine I just don't see why should cost so much with nothing special to offer.

The XSC150P was developed to be the highest output esc on the market for 1/10 competition. Very specific odm high output mosfets are incorporated into the design along with the firmware to go with them that offers the absolute best drivability and feel on the race track.Stock and modified firmware is included as a simple parameter adjustment. The reason why it is rated at 150 amp continuous is because the spec of every product is honest rated or underrated and it is not intentionally embellished to influence sales. The 28 adjustable parameters can be adjusted with a pc if desired but most users including myself use the program device because it is very quick and easy to use especially while at the races. Also the above mentioned price point is incorrect,it is actually $3 less than the G2 and faster on the clock

Can you list the mosfet part number? I appreciate the accurate ratings. As for the 28 adjustable parameters, basically all escs have this so thats not super special. I adjusted the price in my post above.

I'm comparing the Team Powers Radon V4 ($180) vs. Pro Performance XSC150P ($210)

Both ESCs use the same program card, both are manufactured at the same factory, both have the 28 parameters

I have the Radon V4, and I have taken it apart and it uses x24 60A mosfets. That comes out to 240A per phase. The advertised rating is for 200A so that seems accurate, underrated, and honest rating (correct me if there is more to this).

Brian if you're willing to can you list the mosfets used in the XSC150P? If it has better mosfets, I will be impressed.

I also took apart my Hobbywing but on all the components the part numbers are sanded off (just like on the old orion escs).

I do not use Pro-Performance ESC's, but I know people they do. From the one driver when I asked how he likes it: "it makes up for the trigger mistakes", he told me, very smooth power delivery. If people are not interested, your not interested. I know the driver has picked up a little time by switching to pro-performance.

I donno the way your customers and yourself market on here and facebook it seems like all fluff. But this makes me think its possibly not all hot air.

But I have no idea how an esc can be .2-.5 /lap better on a 15-20 second track over an esc thats well setup like I've seen you claim.

That sounds like the esc wasn't setup right, or didn't have enough options. Id believe some laptime was improved over some old 40-50a esc's but still theres not much difference between a 160A HW, Reedy 510R or Orion now Performa HMX.

IMHO, there really isn't that much of a difference, especially for stock racing. For mod with boost and turbo the mosfets used might matter a little, but for stock I feel its more about the size and low CG. TBH your XR10 Pro G2 is a great esc and if you already have it, I would just use that. I kinda just got carried away because of the multiple claims that the Pro Performace is "just better" "I got faster after I tried it"

The motor (along with driver skill) I think matters a lot more than esc choice.

Fantom ($190 160A), Team Powers ($180 200A), and Pro Performance ($210 150A) are all manufactured by ZTW so they all use the same program card and have the same adjustable parameters. It seems odd that the Pro Performance is rated for the least, but costs the most which is why if someone who has it (or Brian Mills) would like to share the mosfets used for the Pro performance instead of quoting "my laps got faster" that would be greatly appreciated. This would be a tangible fact-based way to actually compare escs rather than just using opinions.

Dakotah Phend has always been up top at the races for some time now but I can definitely see a difference in his game since he switched to the Pro Performance esc’s. He has been nearly unstoppable at almost every race and throwing down the fastest times consistently. He talked about them in a recent Facebook live and why he really likes them and switched. I see some other top drivers have started switching to them also. My son and I have been running their esc’s and servos for a while now and our cars are on point

Also, what esc were you using before you switched. Also, what other top drivers are switching?

To be clear, I'm saying the XSC150P escs are bad, but I don't see anything special about them (its manufactured by ZTW) that would justify the increased price. And also, 150A is below most which is why I kinda want to know what mosfets are actually in the esc. So far, and 4+ posts on this thread the general conclusions from those who are supporting the Pro Performance has been "its better" and "its faster" which aren't conclusive and don't really tell us anything.

I have XSC150P esc’s and I tried the Team Powers Radon Pro V4 and I can confirm that the Team Powers does not have the same low speed drivability or same top end speed as the Pro Performance esc does. I am currently only racing 17.5 2wd buggy and the esc does make a noticeable difference
