Hello, I have a Protek 160SS High Speed servo that feels a little funky around center. I would like to disassemble it to check the servo gears. I have removed the top and bottom 4 screws but am unable to remove the top to view the servo gears. Is there a trick? I don't want to force it if there is an easier way to remove it.

the new Protek’s have a potentiometer issue and get the shakes at center like they have Parkinson’s disease. Don’t even waste your time if that is the symptom

When I rotate the output spline I can feel skipping around center. I was using a servo saver in a T4 though.

It is possible that us just a gear then perhaps. I have not had this model servo apart but sometimes there is 2 hidden screws under the board but I don’t believe so. Sometimes the upper case sticks on the output shaft. With a small flat blade screwdriver you can easily try to separate the cases and get a little wiggle and determine if it is just stuck or still retained.

Ya I tried that and it just marred the aluminum surface. I'll try an exacto blade next.

Hit up amains customer service department tomorrow. They sell gear sets for that servo, so they do come apart some how.

Ordered replacement sets August 24th "Just in case". Disappeared off tracking August 29th. Emailed Customer support on Friday. It usually takes them 4-5 days to get back to me.

Hi there Bsthetech ! Any luck? I removed 8 screws and tried to pry it apart with no success... Are there hidden screws that I can't seem to find?

No luck. I emailed Amain customer support and they said to remove the screws and pull it apart and didn’t understand why I was having a problem. Its been sitting on the shelf ever since. I should email them again now that those servos have been around for awhile.

FYI, I just did it. I used a metal automotive pry tool that I used back and forth on the long side to wiggle it out. Now I'm having a hard time putting it back together since the bearing is TIGHT.

Edit...so no stripped gears in my servo (surprised!). It was the bearing that was shot!!!
