Blew up ESC - recommendations
#1
I haven't used my TC5 in years. It has a Novak GTB ESC and Novak 10.5T brushless motor running on a 2S battery.
Unfortunately, fool that I am, I bought a new battery, charged it, and promptly went and plugged it in backwards. Fried my ESC but hoping my other parts are ok (receiver, motor).
Does anyone have any recommendations on a modern ESC I can replace mine with as I'm completely out of the loop these days.
Appreciate it!

There are so many good ESC's out there and it all depends on your budget and intended use. I've used the Hobbyking Turnigy 80A brushless ESC in my 2wd Slash when I raced Mudboss and it was perfect as well. I've also used the SkyRC speed controls and they were fine as well. I find the Hobbywing ESC's to be the gold standard though.

The new R1 super stock is amazing! It just came out a few weeks ago and I've been using it with great success. It has every configuration option you'd ever need.

FYI, if I’m not mistaken there’s at least one model in the HW XR10 line that has some reverse polarity protection. It will blow the capacitor stack, but at least replacing that is much cheaper than replacing the entire ESC!

That's the new XR10 Pro G2. They also have optional capacitors that won't blow either.

Will see how it works and hope I didn't fry anything else on my car.
