Best centering servo
What’s your guys opinion on the best centering servo and what servos have you found that don’t center very well.
Been running the same brand for years now and I feel like I’m always re trimming my cars at the track. Looking too make the switch. This is for 10th scale off-road. My 8th scale stuff seems too be much better at centering. But they are more torque more expensive. lets hear the opinions and thank you. |

if you're talking about Reedy servos, they are made by highest and its not their latest tech but for whatever reason charge heaps.

i honestly didn’t want too say what brand I’m struggling with because I’m sponsored by them for almost 5 years now and don’t want too be bad representation for them but wanted see if the same brand pops up as not centering as well. it seems like no matter what I do I find myself clicking my trim during warmup of my races. I have had 2 different radios, check all links too be equal made sure epa’s are correct and etc. this is on all my 10th scale cars not just one of them and also includes the short versions and standard size.
If you are sponsored then you need to go to your sponsor with your problem, if you are full sponsored then it is your task to report issues. I do not read if you have tried a 2nd servo, if you are full sponsored then it should be no problem to test a 2nd. |
Sounds like bad potentiometers common in Protek and Savox. What radio do you use? If it is something that has a fast response mode you want to invest in a fully compatible servo to get the most out of it. It bothers me seeing guys with M17’s now and using inferior servos. They have no idea what they are missing. But to answer your question Pro Performance Rc has the best servos by far I have tried almost everything in the market

I have been racing RC since 1991... no time off...
all scales and all types of tracks ( 1/12 electric to 1/4 scale (gas) Carpet, concrete, blacktop. concrete with soda pop coating. also flew RC aircraft for 6 years.... electric and nitro.. 40 size to 120 size. Radio and Servo's ..... Futata.... all that time. 3 years ago I moved 1,800 miles and started to race Dirt 1/10 scale. SC5m I installed a Futaba 3305. .. it lasted 2 years... ( sad )... replace with same... next one will be a Tekin. https://www.teamtekin.com/servos.html fyi.. I have NEVER had a sponsor... except for my wife. I do know may Sponsored drivers,, then and now. from the US Indoor Champs..... Cleveland Ohio... raced with them for many years, at the local tracks. << I NEVER race a big race... just wrench for friends that are / were sponsored.>> MY OPINION, and is worth what you paid for it :) . |
The Tekin servos seem ok but I use the fastest response mode on my radio and they aren’t compatible with that and reading other people’s post in their thread seems like some issues idk

Since you are only having centering issues with your 1/10 stuff, I would check your ball ends... I have found that the threads on my ball ends would start to strip after too many hard wall taps and then I'd lose center... I verified this by checking the distance between the ball links with a caliper, then the next time I lost center (typically after a wall tap) I was able to confirm the problem was stripped threads on the ball links.... installed a fresh set of ball links and centering issue went away ;)

These issues have been brought up with them by others but I just wanted too see if others were having issues without calling them out and also wanted too see if any other brands pop up with the same issues. I’m looking at privateering and wanted too see what others have found to be the best centering servo and what servos they have found too not center very well. |

thanks for the advice. I do make sure everything is even and always checking things. I should clarify my centering issue is going down the straight away a. We get 2 warmups laps I’ll come out with a car I know was going straight and then during warmup I’ll find it is off and with pulling too the left or right and have too adjust 2 too 3 clicks on the trim . This happens in multiple classes. Not every time but sometimes which has made me come too a conclusion that it is the servos

I’m currently running the 7px
past radios are m17 m12s i do not use sr mode because I actually turn down my speed on my servos for clay racing. (I was having these centering issues before turning down servo speeds) all the servos I run are brushless |

Since you've got a fresh set of ball links installed and you know that's not the issue, then when was the last time you replaced your gear set in the servo? I've never came across a single brand of servo that didn't get slop after a while and need the gears to be replaced :(
all the servos were fresh at the last 3 day race and happened in 2 of the 4 cars as far as I know this could possibly not even be a servo issue but I feel it is and wanted too try a different brand and see if there is other brands having centering issues so I don’t buy them |
