Default Ecopower Sling Shot SLV Motor

Anyone use this motor? helping someone get started on the cheap so curious if this is good for starting out and how it compares powerwise to other common 17.5 class motors?

I don’t know about the newest one but the prior model had 20+ rave reviews on it at Amain.

I do know this, EcoPower is not the OEM, as far as the servos they sell, the OEM is JX, just need to find out who the OEM is for these motors that EcoPower is rebranding for. If I had to guess, the "Sling Shot SLV" is probably a rebrand of the "Surpass Hobby Rocket" lineup... I know they released the V4S series not too long ago and they share some similaritiest in design but there are enough differences in the cooling hole cutouts to make me think it might be a V5 flavor perhaps? Only way to be certain is to buy both motors and compare rotor/stator/sensor board designs more closely, I'd be willing to bet they might be compatible and likely the same OEM, but that's just a guess.

I have been running the older V2 and V3 series of the Rocket motors in mod classes and have always been very happy with them.

the dual port feature is nice. I ran Surpass motors (V4S) and really liked them, especially for the price. They had loads of torque. Main thing was just getting some consistency from motor to motor. But mine in general it was like having a cake and one was like cake with frosting. Both were still good cake.

I could not resist. Amain has the 4.5t on sale 33 To door. It's by far the nicest motor with sensor wire for the price ever. The rotor alone is $35 plus. Makes buying weak spec motors for 150 seem dumb. The v2 has a normal shaft diameter rotor. So changing will be a breaze with my other tuning rotors. I was scared there 13mm rotor was gonna be super strong. Thankfully it is not. I turned the timing down to 10. It was still drawing 2 amps first notch on analyzer. I may go lower. Was only drawing 6 full song. I will run it in a outlaw sprint car. The green and black looks excellent. They jammed a bunch of fat copper in there. Mind bending 169g.. update. I installed Trinity purple broad 12.3 spec rotor to calm it down.
