plastic fans suck and i use to break them all the time. I now run the yeah racing full aluminum Tornado Fans. They work great and they wont break on you like the plastic case fans.

I broke two plastic fans the same day i bought them. Like the others said, the YR aluminum tornado is great. Been running it for a few months with zero problems. I wonder if it's the aluminum case or maybe stronger/thicker plastic on the blades, but it definitely works!

I've had pretty good luck with the 15mm R1 fans and they have reverse polarity protection which is nice

Another voucher for the Yeah Racing 30mm aluminum fan. I've heard some people complain of the noise and wear them out on high voltage by soldering the wires directly to the battery posts, but in my experience using 7.4v bec, they last a very long time and move a good amount of air. Just make sure to secure the wires leaving the fan case as they can easily come unsoldered, a small dab of shoe goe will prevent the wires from pulling off and you'll have yourself a very dependable fan.

i have used hot racing fans and had the fan pop out of the base, same issue with the traxxas vxl fans.

Ive had great luck with my yeah racing plastic fans.

What is everybody running that caused your fans to break?

I used to go through plastic fans about once every couple of months, been using the same Aluminum Case Tornado fan for over a year now, worth every penny!

for sure the aluminum case fans hold up better. i've been liking the surpass (the OEM of the hobbystar above).

the number one failure i've had with fans is the wires coming off the fan board. metal case won't prevent that. i shoe goo the wires to the case to prevent them from getting pulled out and that has increased the life of every fan i've done it on.

On the Tornado fan, the solder tabs are exposed of the motor/fan so you can re-solder the wires and shorten wiring very easily

I've had problems with breaking blades after landing insane jumps....

Didn't realise aluminium fans were a thing.

Just the case is aluminum. Blades are still plastic and can still break.

I used the aluminum case yeah racing fans I went through 3 of them in a practice day at the track. 1 broke after landing a hard jump, so I doubled up the tape on the bottom to give it more cushion. That didn’t help it broke on the same jump 15 second into a lap. Then the last one broke a couple laps later. Now I’m using the muchmore 30mm turbo fan and it seems to be holding up well. I have about 5 weeks right now on the muchmore.
