FlySky Noble NB4
#1052
I had high expectations for the pro, but with the price, no new hardware internally other then the wireless charging I sold the two NB4's I had a bought a M17, 200 for something on BangGood, ok, 400 I'll go with something else. I was a dedicated NB4 user and had switched from a MT44 to the NB4. i wish we had an Open TX type OS for surface radios and weren't locked by the manufacture into paying more for the same thing.
The Noble Pro cost is a direct issue with licensing and being able to distribute all over the world. there are 3 versions and they are not able to be updated or switched to other markets. there is a China version, a UK version, and a US version. make sure to check which one you buy.
they had to do this due to new laws that the NB4 was not susceptible to at the time. but they had to follow now. as far as I have heard there is no real hardware change other than cosmetics. its all Software related but the new firmware is not compatible to the old NB4 and there isn't at this time any plans to make upgrades for the NB4. basically no more support. they are doing this to push the sales of the Pro. in the future they may open up to the NB4 but I wouldn't hold my breath. but I don't see the Pro selling big especially at its price point. most will go to Futaba or Sanwa
I love my 7 PX but the NB4 is just as capable and I liked the price point. makes a great versitile radio for Bashing, and crawling/trailing. going through the woods and slip or trip noone wants a $700 Transmitter to go flying. at the $200 price range it was a solid contender to Futaba an Sanwa. functions, range, etc. but at double the cost most will just spend a little extra and get the best.

Yea I won't be selling my NB4 because the price went up lmao, tell me what hasn't gone up in price sure maybe not as much as the NB4 but even at $400.00 it is still hundreds cheaper than the competition and I have grown to love the simple UI!

Hundreds cheaper than the competition? Ok, I have never really checked out the NB4
, but from gut-feeling I would not compare it to an M17, more to an MT44... and that is actually quite a bit cheaper, so 2-3 additional receivers (depends on original or cloned) could be included as well. Or is the NB4 so much better than the MT44 (talking performance not user interface or such)?
Just curious, I'm a) too deeply invested (number of receivers) and b) too happy with Sanwa for me to even consider a change to anything else right now. But I'm not one of those fan-boys who say everything else is bad. Futaba, for example, make some excellent radios as well. But Flysky is still more or less an unknown entity to me.

However, I still won't be getting rid of the 7PX. The primary purpose of me having multiple Txs is to have all land vehicles (with a few exceptions) on the 7PX, and all boats (with a few exceptions) on the NB4. I won't go into the "exceptions"...but, I will say that it can not only be a smart idea to have different vehicles/vessels on different Txs, but I'd can also be a smart idea to have those different Txs using different radio technologies.

I want to know more about the regional variants of the Pro. Is it just the radio or is the receiver region specific too? Is it legal to use a UK one in USA etc? If not, that'll make it a non-starter for drivers who attend international races.

What is up with the shortage of receivers? A few months ago you could get any of them on Amazon with prime shipping. Now you can't get any. I ordered an FGR4P a few weeks ago from Amazon and now that's gone, and I ended up ordering an FGR4S from Hobbymate but that has a 30-35 business day delivery time, so I'm not sure when I'll get it.
In the mean time I have to keep swapping receivers between vehicles which is a headache as the ESCs need to be recalibrated each time.

Norcal Hobbies (my LHS) has receivers and radios. They also sell online through teampowersusa.com. The receivers are on the pricy side but at least if they don't work I can return/get them warrantied.

Also, I agree with frewster, I don't think the NB4 standard is getting replaced. For $240 with 2 receivers, it's still a great deal. For $400+ for the pro version, might as well get an M17.

I do wish Flysky makes a barebone version of the NB4 pro. I really dont care about the case, phone stand but do want a new radio to play with . The standard NB4 still has that issue when voltage drops lower than a certain level(4.4v maybe), the rx will randomly lose signal... This is on miniz evo platform, I hope the larger scale don't have this issue.
