Default Esc problems

New to forum so any help is much appreciated.
I purchased hobbywing xr8 esc and motor combo . calibrated the esc, programmed the esc with the program box .I am using nimh batteries so lipo cut off was disabled, and battery selection was changed to auto detect ..when I squeeze the throttle the car will start to take off and after 4 or 5 feet power gets cut off ,losing steering as well ,followed by 2 green led flashes . It repeats this over and over but when lifted off the ground, under no load, it will run without cutting off .
thanks ahead of time to anyone who might help .

I think auto detect might be over riding the cutoff, maybe disable both?

I'd like to know what batteries, and what motor are being used. I don't think the speed control has option to disable LiPo cell Auto Detection. Set Punch to minimum, and slowly roll on the throttle? When I see the XR8 speed control being used, I think of larger RC platforms like 1/8 scale buggies/truggies, or possibly a 4wd short course truck. With all that extra weight, and larger/more powerful motors, I think your NiMh batteries are being asked to do too much...especially if using only a 6 cell pack.

Thanks for responding rustyus .
I purchased the exrun combo package .
140 amp xr8 sct esc with the 3660 sensored brushless 3200kv .The system was put in a losi rock rey 1/10 scale .
I think you could be right about asking to much from a 6 cell but there is just 1 thing that confuses me. When I first installed the system I took it to work the next day to test out with a battery I had charged the night before. I was able to zip around with no issues for 5 to 6 minutes before it would start to cut out .I figured the lipo cutoff was the cause . at the time I did not have the program box .
after programming the esc is when it started this . Also the car, when it did allow me to get to full throttle, it would pull hard left and after fooling with the settings again and using a fully charged battery it started to pull to the right ..and again, when I first tested it out it tracked totally straight .
hope I haven't confused you too much ..electronics are not my favorite part of the hobby .

You can do a factory reset and see if everything operates like when you first installed the ESC. Besides that, and using a freshly charged battery, I got nothing. The whole pulling to either side thing, when trying to go full throttle, sounds like a loss of power issue.
