Default popping sound when plugging in second battery

Recently picked up a brand new TR MT8E BE6S. Had the hobby shop swap the deans to Traxxas as I have more of those batteries. Verified that the positive off of the ESC goes to the positive of one connector and the negative goes to the negative of the other.

Also purchased two brand new traxxas 5000MAH 25C 3S lipos.

When i plug in the first battery everything seems fine. However, when I plug in the second one I can hear a POP and see a flash right at the connection point.

The truck runs great after and is powerful as heck even with only 25c batteries.

This is my first time running 6s. Is this normal or do I have a real issue?

Thanks.

Try turning your car off with the switch on the ESC before you connect the battery, this might fix the problem.

It's just the capacitor's charging up.

It’s normal. Some really spark. Occasionally I’ll notice it with 2s. But as the battery increase it’s more noticeable. 6s when it becomes more noticeable, 8s is even more so.

you don’t want to see sparks near the esc, or smoke. That means something bad happened

They make adapters that prevent the spark, but these are usually designed for aircraft that aren't subjected to the abuse surface vehicles put on everything. You might try searching for 'anti-spark connector' if you really don't like it.

Thank you everyone for the replies! Only used single 2s batteries before so small learning curve. Talk about power though!!
