Old Tekin RS Pro?

So do any of you guys use this old esc? Is it worth anything? Is it still a good esc for spec racing?

wingracer 08-29-2018 07:14 AM

They are highly sought after by drag racers so yes, it's still worth something.

Randy_Pike 08-29-2018 11:10 AM

OH yes! Drag racers pay top dollar for them. It's still a spec class champ!

If you are referring to 1/10 on-road or off-road course racing, almost no one uses Tekin now.

On-road, Off-road, drag racing, and oval. One of the best ones out there now!!!

you may say so 5yrs ago. Ha.

Or you would say so now if you are sponsored by them or trying to sell one. Haha

didn’t I say 1/10? Sct uses 1/8 motors?

to be fair, if you have one, use it unless you improved. If you are buying a new one, Tekin won’t be on my list at alll. Again, I am talking about 1/10 2s lipo with 540 size motors.

bd007 08-29-2018 08:48 PM

On road, 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy. Sorry Tekin haven’t been making on the list. At least not on A-main list.

Who said you can't use 540 motors in SCT??? That's all that's used here for stock classes. I also have a junked Reedy in the HW box. Poor wire layout imo. LRP??? who services them??? They went bankrupt long time ago.

2wd sct yes, 4wd no.
that's ok. all personal preferences. as I said, if the OP has an old RS Pro, use it. To buy one now, new or used, NO. Maybe it's still good for drag racing? I don't know.

Randy_Pike 08-30-2018 03:13 PM

The Tekin Pro4 motor is a 540 motor and has won the ROAR 4wd SC nats, again just this year as matter of fact.

You also pulled up EOS races for "off road" which we only sponsors a few guys of that level, Hupo Honigl being one of them. Tekin just Tq'd the ROAR 17.5 2wd buggy class with the RS Pro BE and an off the shelf Spec R motor! On top of that Tyler Hooks just won the 4wd 13.5 ROAR National Championship with a RS Pro BE and Spec R 13.5 motor. Tyler took 2nd in both 2wd and ST Truck at the ROAR Nats. He was the ONLY truck clearing the quad on the track with the RS Gen2 and Spec R setup, of which the truck was then raffled off for breast cancer awareness!

If we really wanted to buy into that A main list of drivers, we most certainly could. We prefer to work with drivers that share our passion for top level racing products that ultimately benefit our customers.

Bd007 normally you post pretty factual info, but at this point I'm having to argue a bit here. Your sample of race fit your post, kudos to you for that.

Here's a challenge for you: find me a single company on that list that made an ESC upwards of 10 years ago, that can still even be considered to be used at the top genres of racing today like the Gen1 RS Pro. I'll wait.

bd007 08-31-2018 11:06 AM

No doubt Tekin RS was good and very popular and being one of the first ESCs with boost. That's why I told the OP to use it if he has one. Just that it won't be my first choice if I am going to buy a new or used one. I guess that suggestion is pretty fair.

platgof 09-02-2018 05:18 PM

I haven't had any luck with any thing other than Tekin for off road. My HW works poorly, My Sanwa is a pos that fell apart, and all my Tekins are good to go, and last the race!!
