17.5 Rotor Replacement
#1
Hello, I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a new 17.5 or just replace the rotor. I have an older Maclan 17.5 and it's slow compared to my Team Powers motor. It also has little to no torque. I was wondering is buying a new High Torque rotor for the motor would fix it's speed and torque issues? It's only like $35 for a new rotor vs. >$100 for a new motor. This is 2wd buggy.
Thanks!

Really hard to give a definitive answer, especially because you're comparing 2 different brands of motors which is like comparing apples to oranges. Generally, newer generation stock motors will improve their designs in both rotor and stator features, so chances are you probably won't be upgrading much unless the replacement rotor is compatible with a current generation with a stronger magnet, but then you'll still be running with a dated stator.
If I was looking for the most competitive option, then I would get a modern short stack say from Trinity or Tekin.
