Gonna run mod 6.5 in my losi 22 4 2.0 but not sure what set up to get? Have a local racer that has the erun 3.1v Hobby wing with v10 6.5 and program box for 165.00. What do you think deal or no deal? Will be racing carpet and then dirt in the summer. Please advise the noob.

to me, that sounds a bit steep in price. the 3.1 is an excellent speedo, but it's a generation old. the V10 motor is just a used mod motor. those can be had for $30-40 on here. the program box is ok. you really want the wifi module so you can program with your phone. for that combo, i think the most i'd pay is $150, which i'd consider an ok deal. for $130 i'd be excited.

I have a V3.1 in my TLR 22 3.0 buggy and like it a lot. Just running a 17.5, but the ESC I like a lot, bought it used on here for $75 with a program box. I just picked up a SC5M that had a trackstar 120amp ESC which seems kind of similar to the v3.1, but much prefer the V3.1.

I wouldn't do it. The new XR10 pro is much better and I would get the wifi module. The V10 is even older as there is a V2 and now V3. The most I would pay ther is $100.

I agree that the set is overpriced for a presumably used combo but for a "noob" a HW V3.1 is more than enough. Heck, even a Quicrun 120A would get the job done just fine. The XR10 Pro is ~$200 and really isn't needed unless you're a pro. What's best and what's enough, there's a difference.

I was trying to find info on the Quicrun 10BL120 for a budget ESC for 1/10 2WD offroad modified. It would go into my TLR 22T 4.0 then maybe end up in a B6.1D.

Is it suitable for club racing mod 1/10 off road? curious what I would be missing picking a Quicrun 10BL120 over a v3.1? it is about 1/3 the price.

I have been out of the game before brushless became a thing so I am a bit lost. I found your post using google so figured I would ask.

It's suitable, yeah. Plenty of power for a 2WD. The Quicrun 10BL120 has less programming options than the Xerun V3.1, it only has the basic stuff. Which happens to be just about as much as I ever use. So it has only basic timing, no turbo etc. But especially in mod you can already have a fast enough motor to not need turbo timing. No two-stage brake or throttle profile, but especially for throttle I like to keep it linear anyway. Some options are less gradual on the Quicrun.

Honestly I feel the Quicrun would be enough for a lot of people, folks just easily end up in a needless upgrade frenzy. It's certainly enough to get started with. Then if after your driving skill improves and you feel you need more, you can get the better one and see if it does actually feel better. Even if it does you end up with the Quicrun as an affordable backup or in a different car. Personally I have used many budget ESCs from Hobbyking, Turnigy and Hobbywing without problems. The only ESCs I've had die on me have been more expensive ones, a Novak and and a Speed Passion.

As far as program cards the Quicrun uses the LED programming card, not the Multifunction Program Card which most Ezrun and Xerun ESCs use. Can also be programmed via the set button, though. The LED card is cheap, the Multifunction card is pricier.

Update - It arrived yesterday. One thing I was worried about was it being rather large because it is cheap but the size is hardly different compared to my XERUN Justock ESC. The sensor wire plug in is also on top and not the side so that is even easier to get to. I got my B6.1D kit now and am going to start building it, but I really should install this ESC in my 22T and test it out.. priorities man.
