Well, yes, after 10 years, I think we're surprised that you haven't learned that upgrading motors while using old, worn out batteries isn't going to result in a meaningful improvement. If the battery can't supply the current, that's the limit. Decent lipid cost half what a new motor does, too.

Happily. It's a completely unrealistic concern. Use a decent charger, don't abuse your batteries. If you are confident that you can handle a pack of matches without burning down the place, a Lipo & charger will be no worry.

I know that the Ni-MH batteries that's installed in my chassis would be the weak-point. I'm lucky no one that runs 2S Li-Po batteries beat my Fastest-Lap yet.

So I've decided (ordered) to get the Team Orion Li-Po 2S 8000mah 7.6v Battery (item # 14072) or the Team Orion 2S 5800mah 7.4v Battery (item # 14087).

I still won't charge them in my house. (my son will take the risk in his apartment)
-he has the Hitec X1 Pro charger and 17A Power Supply
-I have the Graupner EX 1400 charger and 25A Power Supply
-I run KO Propo VFS-1 ESCs (they should be alright with the Li-Po battery...?)

Being this afraid of lipo batteries is pretty extreme, given that you already have an expensive lipo charger. Buy a lipo sack, keep your charging amps reasonable and stop worrying.
Keep in mind that ni-mh batteries aren't risk-free either, and you're already comfortable charging them.

If you have a cell phone, a laptop, tablet, smart watch, or semi-recent battery powered tools, you have lipos in your house already.

Good for you on taking the plunge. The great thing about the hobby is you can move along at the pace you choose.

I don't know much about onroad, but the 8000 mAh battery is probably overkill. The lighter 5200 pack will likely be plenty.

Charge your battery in balance mode, and always use a balance cable. If something has gone wrong with a cell, the charger will catch it immediately in that configuration.

You'll have to bust out the manual for your ESC and make sure you have the lipo cutoff enabled and again, I'd bump it up to 3.4 volts to start with. You could go down to 3.2 and still be okay.

The lipo may be lighter than your nimh pack, so check your ride height.

I have the KO Propo VFS-1 ESC. It can only handle no more than 7.4v. So I will use(install) the Team Orion 7.4v 5800mah 110c Li-Po battery.
I will return the 8000mah packs and order another 5800mah pack.

I will post my new Fastest-Lap Time(s) after I run with the new batteries.

Do some googling on lipo cutoff settings, and make sure your ESC has a lipo cutoff capability integrated into it. When you switch from running nimh to lipo, you will need to tell the speed control you've done that. It can't tell the difference on its own, but if it doesn't know that you are running a lipo it will over discharge the battery, killing it completely. You'll be left with a pack you can't recharge.

I googled your ESC, and it looks like you need a special USB adapter and programming cable to change settings on this ESC. Do you have that?

Also, what type of connectors and balance connector is on the battery you ordered? Your charger is pretty fancy, so it should have no troubles, but you'll need the right wiring to make it all happen.

My son has a Motiv fire bag.
He's the guy that will be charging my batteries.

That ESC will be able to handle the 8000 packs just fine, you don't need to return them.

I didn't realize he had already bought them when I made the suggestion. The ESC could handle them fine, but they are larger and heavier than what he needs. The car will likely be faster with the smaller battery.

I ordered (2-battery packs) the Team Orion 7.4v 2S 5800mah 110c Li-Po Battery.
I returned the 7.6v 2S 8000mah 110c batteries because the KO Propo VFS-1 ESC is a 7.4v max...........(?)

I have to get the KO Propo ICS-USB Adapter (item # 61028) and a fresh - new computer to change the Cut-Off Voltage.

-These so-called powerful Li-Po batteries should(better) make my R.C. Cars much faster.(?)
