I searched the forums, but failed to find any info...

Trying to locate info about an older Orion Vortex RTR ESC system. I have a
ORI66043 Kyosho Vortex8 Brushless Combo that originally came in older RTR 8th scale Kyo vehicles
(I got it from a friend, was looking for an in-expensive BL system to run in my 8th scale buggy.)

So far I have Zero complaints- EXCEPT....

It came with the ORI65026 Orion Digital Setup Box, (See below) and when I connect it to the ESC to try and make changes to the ESC, nothing happens. With MOST ESC prog. boxes, usually it runs off the ESC power and is able to make adjustments to cutoff, run mode, punch, braking etc.

Curious if the newer Orion Prog. boxes are backwards compatible OR if I need perhaps need to find another Prog. box? Can I use a HW or similar Prog box just to make changes to the profiles, or is Orion ESC Software propitiatory?



The ESC overall works find, but I'd like to add some drag brake, maybe disable reverse, and set a different throttle profile or make other tweaks.


Just looking for anyone with experience - I'm not an Orion person
(more familiar with HW, SpeedPassion, Orca etc)

see Team orion site but they state newer program boxes are not backwards compatible. You can program an ESC without the program box. Download the manual for instructions.
