Just ordered SPT servos 5410HV for throttle and brakes and the 5420HV for steering. Let's see how they work. |
Last night was my first time out with an ebuggy I bought second hand that came with one of those cheap Chinese 20kg servos. That servo is SLOW and it was very noticeable on the track. Decided to get a new servo and I've been hearing good things about 9imod servos. I found a video where the servo makes the actual numbers it claims which are pretty impressive for the price. I decided to pick one up on Amazon for $45. It should be here tomorrow so I'm pretty excited to get it in the car and test it out.

I did also find other problem with 9imod, i was thinking order one to test 45kg i crawler,
but all these 9imod has Brass gear., Avoid them. Must bee stainless-steel, or quality grade alloy, titanium. Never Copper/brass gears. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...682c9f48da.jpg |
Also the 9imod do not like the heat. I have 4 of them that we have tested that have all gone bad in less than 2 months. Heat kills these very easily as well as most of the China servos we have tested. Especially in a Nitro buggy while running in 85 degree plus Fahrenheit weather kills these, as well as the Power HD servos real quick, and other made in China brands like the JX line. I've got 3 bad JX servos here both in brushless and coreless that went bad in 2 weeks of running them in Nitro, and in 85 degree+ Fahrenheit weather. We recently had a big international race here in our country and the weather was over 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and we easily had over 25 servos fail at this event, Futaba, SRT, Power HD, Highest to name a few. Fortunately I brought some servos in my backpack, and I was able to bail some of the racer out, but not all of them. Some had to buy servos from the shop or borrow some from there compadre. The servos could not stand the heat, the Futaba's that got roasted were literally brand new, the owner was pissed. 1 racer alone went thru 3 PowerHD servos at the event. Robert Batlle who was challenging Davide Ongaro, his Highest throttle servo failed his first lap in his A-main, and then the next day he went to practice after the event, and his Highest steering servo went next. The 9imod servos I tested did not meet the torque as advertised, they were about 8kg off from what is advertised at 7.4v, and I have tested each one we ordered prior to there failure. The ones we tested were the brushless and coreless 35KG servos, not the 25KG. If your just bashing then go for it, but for any sort of serious racing, stay away from these cheap servos, especially in a Nitro application. If you live in an area in hot weather, your asking for trouble as well. I am not saying China servos are bad, but these cheap ones are terrible in terms of longevity, and performance. You get to a point where cheap is cheap, and your pushing it when it comes to getting what you pay for. There is only soo much that can be offered at such a low price, if you expect quality parts your kidding yourself. Just wanted to share, have a good one. Just like with cell phones, there are cheap garbage Android China phones, while there are high end premium China Android phones that deliver. It is the same thing with servos, as well as many other technological goods.

Do you know what I like about Hitec servos? If something goes wrong, you send it in and they replace it or repair. Can't exactly do that for a China brand servo. I have them in my cars, trucks, 1/8 scale, Heli, planes, and jets.

You guys mean to tell me that cheap Chinese servos sometimes fail or are low quality? What a shock, I never knew! WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE TELL ME SOONER?!?!?!

I took a chance on a GX/YIPIN low profile brushless servo off Amazon. The specs (20kg/[email protected]) are unbelievable for the price ($42). Comes with full cnc ale case and an extra gear set too. Plan to run it in a touring car.
I had good success buying power HD servos when they were cheap as dirt 10 years ago. Hope to find the next diamond in the rough. |

Those specs sound too good to be true, especially at that price point. I wouldn't believe them.

As mentioned before, my HDKJ 3020 brushless servo did cost me 35 euro and they are on a servo tester parallel to an equal Savox just as fast but there is a small noticable reaction latency.
I can not tell about the 20kg power but they at least feel the same as the Savox. |
Last night I had a chance to try the 9imod in my ebuggy. My car drove much better with it compared to the old/slow 25kg servo it came with. I only had the car out on the track for a few minutes total and didn't race it last night, but so far I'm pleased with the performance and it's still only running at 6V.

Well I got the YIPIN in the mail today and it looks and feels impressive. It's extremely heavy though, kind of surprisingly so.
The serial number on this thing is 000003 so I doubt anyone's tested one yet. |
