Default Battery Charging

When a track does not provide power and using your car to charge your batteries is not convenient, what does everyone use?

Minicooper- unfortunately not many people can afford a generator, like you, you filthy rich bum......hahahaa!!!!!!J/K!!!

Actually a generator is the best source for power!!! You can also buy a Deep Marine cycle battery and haul that around, but I also hear that they do not last long!!

BTW, make sure, if you buy a generator, that it runs quitely, not noisy like some people I've run into that insist on running generators that can make you go deaf....

buy those portable rechargeable field batterys. Like the gel cells that you can get at your automotive store. I dunno how long they will last, but ask around.

I want to thank everyone for your quick replys and suggestions.
I don't race often and the garden tractor battery looks interesting.
Mr. Losi where can I pick one up and how much do they usually go for? Also, what about those Portable Emergency Jump Start devices (you know the ones that are used to jump start your car when there is no one to give you a jump). I think Costco sells one for about $70.

Thanks,
Rich

Just get a car battery.......... it will last all day
and then get cheap charger for the car battery

Just put the charger on the battery like two days before you plan to race.........

works for me!!!

i use a 12v 7A gel cell but only to charge my reciever pack and power my starter box for my gas car, but i used it one day to charge 2000mha stick packs and only got 2 1/2 charges out of it before the gel batt dropped below 9 1/2 volts (discharging the packs too)

Never charge lipo packs the night before, or you might wake up to a burning house.... The generator is the best option, but you can get a good truck battery charger too.... I use the power pack ES5000... It is pretty good for $125... I also have a generator, but it takes a lot more work to setup...

Deep cycle marine battery is the best choice. Lasts all day, cheaper than a generator, and no noise issues. Just heavy to carry. Another problem is some places don't allow generators, or require a permit.

Generators have their pluses. I've always preferred the battery.

You revived a thread started before the advent of lipo batteries to tell these people not to charge their lipo batteries the night before.
