I'm glad to see that you enjoyed ironmanning this weekend Neil. How did you do and who won pro stock? sportsman? Also how's the track layout? Is it fugly or is it fun?

Anyways, testing at Tamiya was good. I think we found a good setup for the enduro 414. The car has a little bit of push because of the amount of traction we found and is very easy to drive allowing you to drive harder and carve through corners. The motor testing did not do to well however. We managed about 1 1/2 hours running quasars until the 12T gave up the ghost. Afterwards, we put in a 10T and managed to go for quite sometime until we broke a rear arm. I rebuilt the 12T and used some Peak Enduro brushes that should last the whole day.

I'll chat with you on Tuesday!

Hey Rod

What about Dave's brushless. The advantage of the brushless is the lack of maintenance. All we really have to do is change out the batteries. We'll talk more on Tues.

Howard

The carpet track is in the works. From what I hear, it will be in the San Diego area. Another maybe in the LA area by Hobby People. We'll see in about a year.

How long ago did it close?

 Carpet is great fun w/ tons of speed....just don't try to run carpet and asphalt the same day RC! ;)

The good news on the R/C Tech San Diego carpet track: I have the AMBrc system and everything we'd need besides the carpet.

The bad news: I'm still living/working in Wisconsin. I don't anticipate being here much past this summer, but you never know. I could be back to SD next month, or out here next Fall. I was ready to quit my job two months ago and got promoted instead...

Meanwhile, I am running a track out here and putting a lot of thought into how we will do things when the track does open in SD.

Now there may be other tracks scheduled to open in SD, to which I say, go for it! The area needs a track. Bad.

That sounds great! Have you heard of anything in the LA area?

futureal 02-11-2003 11:29 PM

Not of anything in the LA area, no. I actually meant to get in a raceday at SoCal this past winter, but I ended up leaving the majority of my gear at my place in Madison, so I never made it.

Let me know the next time you intend to make it down here. You'll have a blast, it's like racing at a national event every race day!

Neil Rabara 02-12-2003 09:27 PM

Slim at SoCal mentioned that their website will be more up to date. They have a program that if you looked in the race results page, find the date you raced, then find yourself, you will be able to see not only yourself, but your individual times.

futureal 02-12-2003 10:20 PM

I have been thinking about doing something like that for our club. But I suppose before I do that, I should get to the stack of reviews I need to post on R/C Tech. :)

I will be sure to stop by SoCal at some point, if not to race then just to check it out and meet some of you guys. If any of you are coming out to the ROAR Carpet Nats or the NORRCA Carpet Nats in March, I'll be racing at both of those events.

The following questions are for any one that don't mind helping me out.
Can anyone tell me what is the track size of the socal raceway?
what is the smallest practical track size for 1/10 scale(electric pan car or touring) that still offer ejoyable racing? What kind of surface(carpet, black top or concrete) that you prefer?

Thank you.
