Default SPAMMERS ON THIS SITE

There are so many people spamming this site with Cellphone ads!
Mods, can you fix this?

We get rid of them as soon as we see them. Unfortunately we don't always see each and every spam thread. It helps a lot when members use the "report post" feature.

I highly recommend that you guys install captcha image verification....prevents spam bots from creating accounts and posting BS.

Thumbs down

You'd be amazed how many of the spammers are actual people. On my forums, I had to have every new member be validated by myself or a moderator. It's nuts how bad it can be.

That is good to know. I do try to help in that area and I was worried that I was just being ANNOYING!

Spammers suck! It is unfortunate that they are coming here!

I usually check the profile of the spammer as well and most of them are spam only on about 7 different areas of this forum.

The only time I get annoyed is when someone sends me a Private Message that says "Check out the spam thread in the Buy Sell Trade forum. It has a nude picture in it"

Without a direct link, I'm pretty much helpless since there are usually 2-3 pages worth of active threads in most of the forums anymore. I don't have 20 minutes to go through all the day's active pages to search and destroy.

I usually get about one or two of those PM's per day. Multiply that by 10-15 minutes of searching and im up to 20-30 minutes of my RCTech time!

Troy

I though when we reported a post, you would know which post the report was for ?

Are you asking we post a link of the thread with a report when we file ?

Thanks

We are talking about two totally different things.

A "Reported Post" - where you click the report link sends the moderator a link to the specific post in question, and whatever you type in that box to the moderator's e-mail.

A Private Message is the same Private message you have. People will Private Message me instead of using the "report post" feature - which is fine! As long as they can give me a link. Otherwise the "reported post" feature is a better option.

We have a problem like this on a local forum (CRCRC) but the problem we have is people putting porn on a family oriented site...........So here is a solution from another local forum (ColumbusDSM) Have all the noob's post in a rookie section (like you have here) and block them from making any post until they make an intro of them self's

I never understood spammers, esp on here.. Do people actually go threw and try to order from these bone heads?? Seems like a HUGE waste of time for the spammers to me..
