Default Motor Help

Hi,

I am building a car from scratch. Having a little trouble figuring out what motor to use.

I understand that the higher kV value or less turns the faster it will go but with less torque...

But if I wanted my car to go 15mph what type of motor should I get? My car is about 11.25" by 9" and its frame is metal (from a vex kit) so its not exactly light.

I'm completely new to this stuff. Any help is appreciated!!!!!

You probably be ok with any 4-pole 550 motor around 2600kV. However, one important piece is missing - what kind of gearing setup will you have? Mainly, what's the final drive ratio?

weight, final drive ratio, and expected speed are important to consider, you may want to find a simular type of vehicle and use the same size and kv motor and esc to start.

Look at the tacon systems they are lower in price but pack a big punch. As for top speed goes i would gear up the pinion. Smaller tooth pinions will give you more torque and less top speed, but higher tooth pinions will give you more top speed but less torque. It's all about finding that happy medium of torque and top speed
