I'd like to see some pics of peoples setup and how they take pictures of their cars they have painted. Not outside shots.
I haven't been able to take a decent shot of the bodies I've painted.

i usually do something like this:

to do it you don't need to spend much
you only need a pitch black room, a reflex(or a camera you can set manually) and a flash (or a point and shot camera with flash)
you just take multiple pictures using only the external flash as a light source(pointed in various zones) and after that you stitch it together in photoshop
the nice thing is that you don't even need a black drop for your background

i'm not sure how old it is, this version has been out since 2010 i think, but they keep developing and producing it.
it's made in modena (italy), not a lot of people running them but it's a very good car, the only real problem is the company that makes them is really invested in their 5th scale on-road cars and does not have a real market in off-road.

Best way would be to use a light box. There are plenty of cheap ways to build one at home and this will provide a neutral background that wont take away from your product.
Most important thing is to have plenty of light.

Completely dark room and a small flashlight or led light. Set up camera on a tripod and put in bulb mode so you can open up the shutter for a longer period. Open the shutter and use the light to "paint" over the car. You can use multiple colored leds and layer them one on top of another. It looks really cool when you get it right.
