Default what's a fair used RC price??

So if you are reading this then I assume you spend some time on the want adds either surfing or looking for something in particular. I have both sold and bought on this forum. I have bought good deals, I have been ripped off and basically I have seen pretty much everything on here. If you have sold anything RC before, you obviously want it to sounds like a sweet deal. "Barely ran", "only one race season", etc are some common phrases used to sell. But here is my question. After all this buying and selling is there a ballpark percentage discount from new to used?

I am looking for a RTR SC10 for my son, but don't want to pay the $200 price tag for a new one. What price should I be looking at?

We all try and negotiate prices to get what we feel is a great deal, but I just wanted to get people's thoughts.

Thanks (and if you do have a RTR SC10, please PM me with info)

I think about 2/3 the price for a rtr kit so about 130 for you plus shipping or split the shipping.

Then the same for the spares if there are any

Im all for buying locally and supporting the shops that help out and provide the stuff but I also for recycling and giving someone a good deal from something that I don't use or need

Heck thats what I want from a deal, knowing that Im saving a little money and helping out by taking it off someones hands instead of it sitting around getting dusty.

My typical rule of thumb is 50% off full retail if in good shape. There are exceptions to the rule, transponders, high end electronics, and whatever is currently hot, and of course brand new never used items.

Oh... also don't forget the ever increasing paypal fees and shipping!

i've heard of that 50% rule. those are generally the low ballers that get mentioned in the threads. prices all depend on what condition and what's in demand. use your judgment and look around at similar vehicles. you'll miss out on a good buy if you depend on a set formula for pricing and you'll most likely buy garbage because it's "50%" retail. Just my opinion. i've bought and sold on here way more times than my feedback suggests and it's just a judgment call. don't be afraid to pay for something if the seller can back up its quality

If you do the research you'll see that 50% - 40% off is what alot of stuff goes for on here used. Once somethings is used you can never know if "one gallon has gone through it" and the sellers know that.

Might just be me, but anyways everything i have bought on here has been at least 50% off full retail.

Very vague question. As stated prior, there are too many variables to constitute one simple answer.....condition, demand, rarity, etc.

My rule of thumb is 50% off the price you would pay in a hobby store minus the full price for anything that needs to be replaced plus the full price of any hop-up. I read this in an old car action magazine years ago and it has served me well. Electronics start at 2/3 the price of new and is deducted from there based on condition.
This is what I use and everybody has there own method, as you will find by post that very question.

look on ebays completed listings to get an idea of how much the thing is worth used or atleast how much other ppl are willing to pay for it..
I however prefer getting stuff on rctech because ppl want the good feedback here..dont buy from anyone who has little seller ratings and dont do paypal gift even if its a couple more dollars
