Futaba did not "go out of business"...not even close. They area still in business, and operating as strong as ever. As a matter of fact, they just officially unveiled a new Tx less than a week ago, the 4PM +essentially, a "replacement" for the previously-discontinued 4PX). Here's the breakdown:
First, the assets of the original U.S. distributor, Hobbico, were bought by Horizon Hobby, as Hobbico was going through bankruptcy proceedings. Second, the U.S. distribution contact was up for renegotiation. Finally, due to a "conflict of interest" (HorizonHobby is also the imported/distributor Spektrum), Futaba didn't want the same company handling Spektrum AND Futaba within the North America. As such, Futaba created their own in-house distributor for North America - Futaba USA - which handles all North American import & distribution (Ripmax handles distribution in Europe, which other companies handle distribution through the rest of the world).
So, if you previously loved Futaba, you can continue using, purchasing, and servicing, through them. Again, Futaba IS alive, and going strong.
