Default Air compressor recommendations

Thinking about picking up an airbrush for the wife. Probably going to go with the Iwata from Hobby Lobby. Need help with an air source.

Primary use will be painting RC car bodies. Would also like to be able to use it to clean my cars after running. Bonus if I can fill my actual car tire when it's running low.

The new to airbrushing thread mentions 10-18psi. 35psi. 85psi. Any suggestions?

I got a California Air compressor about 6 months ago and have been really happy with it. It is really quiete but very powerful. They use low rpm compressors so they are quite and last longer. Mine is 2hp/5gal. Cutoff is 120psi. Home depot carries them or you can find scratch and dents on ebay for cheap.

I would go with one of the oil-less compressors though. They make a similar model like that. I got thishttp://www.homedepot.com/p/Californi...N#.UhS3KpAo6aw one off eBay for 200 with free shipping. They usually put all their scratch and ding stuff on there cheap. Mine had box damage. The compressor was perfect.

You could probably get away with their 1 or 1/2hp ones for quite a bit cheaper. I use full size spray guns quite often so I went with that one for the higher cfm. It pumps a ton of air for such a small package. For your uses you could go with less.
