AA course aluminum base

It looks a lot like faskrome but I have had no luck spraying it with an iwata CR brush. Even the .5 gets clogged almost immediately. I have to use a .85 HVLP gun to use it. So, basically, it just sits on my shelf collecting dust because faskrome works in my brush.

Yep. I reduce all of my auto air. It's the flake size that causes my issue with it.

Hey Mike, I use this all the time through a Iwata HP-CR .5mm needled at about 45-50psi pressure and have no problems straight out of the bottle. I have backed the RCS candies with it and it looks awesome. I also spray it down as a silver and use either black or plain silver for different effects

B4James does it give you a glitter type of effect? That's kind of what I'm looking for. I've used Pactra metal flake but it doesn't come out right and you can see a kind of weird texture from the "glue" that holds it.....if you know what I mean. Like I said I'll have to try some test shots with it. I thought I saw someone on here that used it on a VW Bug body. Used a candy orange and I thought he said he backed it with the AA course aluminum.

Yes it gave a glitter effect as it is a very coarse grade flake and it doesn't have a glue type texture as its a paint rather than a glue with glitter in it.

Did I get a bad bottle?

Mike I use it alot and it looks great behind the RCS candies, very chunky bass boat flake look. You can also layer it with the candies for a nice deep look. It can and does clog even a .5 brush as the flake is large so you need to test it out and find a good thinning ratio for your setup. I wish I was better with pics but none of mine are very good at showing the glitter.

Chris Bass Boat Sparkle #432 is exactly what I'm looking for. What I've done in the past with that heavy flake stuff is pull the needle back from the nozzle a little bit. Fasglitter is like that too. So is the Pactra metal flake. If all else fails I guess I can put it in my LPHV detail gun and shoot it...lol.
What do you mean exactly by layering? Like sandwich it between coats of candy?

Yes exactly you have a lighter sparkle and then by laying down another coat of candy you get a darker sparkle, adds alto of depth to the finished product. To keep from gettting alot of build-up just light coats of the AA is all thats needed.

Correct except that you dont need the last coat of candy, I usually finish with a mist coat of black or white depending on the desired finial color your after.
