now heres the catch on that i'm spraying at about 15psi with a HP-CS if I hold the brush any closer the paint tends to puddle up and run. could it be that my paint is already to thin or that i'm moving the brush too slow?
on another subjust the createx extender what exactly does this do? my wife picked it up thinking it was clear coat. I'll probably return it but if it's usefull i may keep it.
also what percentage of alcohol are you useing I've got 4 bottles in the house and they all vary in percentages ones 30% another 70% etc etc

Ok..here is teh skinny. your biggest problem is that you are shooting @15 psi
You need moire than that to shoot. At least 40psi. I normally use 50-60. Strokes should be moderately slow..too slow and you will get paint bunched up. Extender does extend the paint....but i notice too much white pigment in the extender and neutralizing teh color.
with alc..use 1 part alch to every 2 parts paint.,

So how has everyone been? I've been busy between work and last minute bodies (since they took forever to release the body list for the world's). We will be over at the world's for a couple days helping with tech, will be there for the mains on the 30th.

Hi Guys,
I have an `airbrush newbie`sort of question-
What do i seal my paintjob with to combat nitro fuel.
I have just finnished my first shell and i sprayed a coat of fascoat on last , not knowing quite what it was for ! What is it for ? Is it waterproof ?
Do i need to finnish with a nitro block ? - If so what is the best to use ? I am using Fascolor paint and yet i cant find anything that states protection against nitro.
Please help as i dont want my paint job to wash away.
Lots of questions i know - But i told you i was a newbie !!!
Thanks,
Tooned G4.

Tooned, one of the things I do is Shoe Goo the inside of the shell. I Shoe Goo around the exhaust area and the common places where nitro may splash. I also shoe goo the front edge and the other side of the vehicle. I usually do this to provide some crash protection. It'll help keep the integrity of the body during those unavoidable run-ins with other drivers or immoveable objects. It's not totally nitro proof, but provides enough for exhaust.

i dont know why people use nitro blocks because my shells never seem to get effected by nitro

FYI......
Hey Guys I was at the I Hobby Expo this weekend in Chicago and I saw a new line of colors from Parma that are really nice. They are translucent(sp?) colors that are very sharp looking. They should be out soon according to them. They are also going to sell Liquid mask in larger amounts. So keep an eye out for that stuff.

I do always spray a last coat of Pactra Indy Silver for nitro-protection.
I have noticed that when running nitro it's pretty fine with Faskolor. But, when running Nitro IN RAIN. The paint get's real nasty after a time..
